After many years of waiting, Clive and his allies finally found another chance to go after one of the remaining Mothercrystals. With war looming on the horizon, the Dragon's Breath Mothercrystal was left mostly undefended. In the previous main scenario quest of Final Fantasy 16, Clive and Jill seized this opportunity to sneak in and destroy another Mothercrystal.
While the next main scenario quest, "After the Storm", is a fairly short one it presents players with several opportunities. For Final Fantasy 16 players, this quest is the perfect opportunity to complete some side quests and improve their gear before advancing further into the story.
This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.
Preparations to Consider
Once all the cutscenes are over, the first objective for "After the Storm" is to go to the infirmary and check on Jill. Alternatively, players can take this time to pursue non-story related objectives in the game. New items can be purchased from the shop, and players will also be able to upgrade new pieces of armor and weapons as well. Inventory aside, there are several new side quests to pursue as well.
One of the side quests, "The Root of the Problem", awards an item that improves how much HP is restored when consumables like Potions and High Potions are used. As such, it is highly recommended that players do this side quest first before proceeding with the story.
The Hunt Board has updated as well with several new Notorious Marks for players to pursue. One of them, Severian, drops the Electrumthat is needed to craft Drakeslayer's Belt. This is a powerful upgrade, so players would benefit greatly from taking the time to craft this belt. Both this hunt and the side quest mentioned above can be worked on at the same time since they take place close to one another.
Check on Jill
Enter the infirmary to trigger a cutscene as Clive checks in on Jill to see how she's doing after exerting all her strength in the previous main quest scenario. After their tender moment is interrupted, another cutscene will play where Clive and the others learn about a very obvious trap set by Titan's Dominant, Hugo Kupka. Aside from protecting his old home, dealing with Hugo Kupka would result in having one less thing to worry about for Clive and his allies.
In order to advance the story, speak with Otto who is in the Mess and then Vivian after that. Prior to speaking to them, however, Final Fantasy 16 players may wish to take this time to carry out any last minute preparations before they go. Whether it is hunting some more Notorious Marks or doing a few more side quests, anything that players do to prepare will be helpful in the long run. Once players travel to Rosalith, the next main scenario quest will begin.
