While Clive was able to rescue his allies in the previous main scenario quest of Final Fantasy 16, there was nothing that he or his companions could do for the people of the Free Cities of Kanver. To make matters worse, Barnabas shows up and proves to be more than Clive can handle. Yet in spite of the battle going south, Gav and Joshua were able to get Clive out while Jill held the line.

With Jill being held captive, Clive works with his allies to find a way to catch up to Barnabas and his flagship. But Mid's ship is missing a crucial part that will allow it to sail fast enough to catch up. Here is what Final Fantasy 16 players can expect as they begin the main scenario quest, "A Song of Hope".

This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.

Speak to Otto

As is the case with many main scenario quests that begin in the Hideaway, players will need to find Otto and speak to him. Prior to that, however, it is not a bad idea to visit Charon and Blackthorne first. Charon will have powerful armor like Rune Crescents, Rune Belt, and Rune Blade available for purchase. Blackthorne can then enhance these new pieces of gear even further. Blackthorne also has a recipe for a powerful set of vambraces called the Sons of Ouroboros, but this requires one Orichalcum, one Stained Loincloth, and one Morbol Flower.

There are several new side quests that players can pursue as well. For players looking for an extra challenge, there are also several new Notorious Marks that can be hunted and slain. Once ready to progress the story, talk to Otto in the Mess. He tells Clive that anything that belonged to Cid would have been given to his daughter, Mid. Go down toward Mid's workshop

Find the Missing Piece

Inspect the pile of books to the left and then the small satchel on the table to the right. Next, inspect the statue on the shelf between the first two items that could be inspected. Following that, return to Otto and speak to him about the search. Finally, go to the orchestrion to trigger a cutscene. Interact with the orchestrion to find a strange object caught up in the gears.

After a cutscene plays, a new side quest will unlock. This side quest is called "Blacksmith's Blues III". This is the third quest involving Blackthorne, and it rewards players with the recipe to make the Ouroboros belt. There is also the side quest "Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol?". This side quest rewards players with improved consumable efficiency upon completion.

Return to the Ironworks

Once ready to progress with the main story, open the world map and travel to the Ironworks. Doing so triggers a cutscene and Mid's pride and joy, the Enterprise, will be ready to sail and chase after Barnabas's flagship. Of course, there is one minor issue that needs to be dealt with first. A large group of enemies discover the location of the Ironworks and attack.

Defeat several waves of enemies and a cutscene will play and then players will have to fight a bunch of duplicates of a boss they slew in the previous main scenario quest. Luckily, these clones are a pale imitation to the Sleipnir that players fought earlier and go down quite easily. The tricky part is that there are so many of them attacking at once. Keep fighting them until a cutscene is triggered and players will begin the next main scenario quest.

Final Fantasy 16 is available now on PlayStation 5.
