Each Eikon in Final Fantasy 16 grants players a new Eikonic Feat, as well as the ability to learn and unlock Eikonic Powers. For Titan, Clive will learn the Titanic Block ability, which uses Titan's massive fist to create a shield in front of him. This is one of the best defensive options in the game, so understanding how to use it can be key to the player's success. Naturally, players must unlock the Eikon Titan's power for Clive before they are able to learn and master the Titanic Block ability.

Titanic Block is similar to Clive's other Eikonic Feats like Phoenix Shift and Deadly Embrace in that it is always tied to the same button and cannot be swapped out for other abilities while that Eikon is active. Final Fantasy 16's unique way of handling the series' iconic summons is a lot of what sets it apart from other games in the franchise.

How to Use Titanic Block

The primary purpose of Titanic Block is to negate incoming damage. By holding Circle, Clive will form a giant, rocky fist in front of him that completely negates all damage. Powerful magical attacks from Final Fantasy enemies are capable of breaking through the fist, but Clive still won't be affected other than staggering. Alternatively, players can tap Circle right before an enemy attack lands to parry it and leave the enemy open for a counterattack. In addition to negating damage, guarding an attack with Titanic Block also fills the limit gauge.

Countering With Titanic Block

Though it can be difficult to get the timing down, perfectly guarding an attack with Titanic Block staggers an enemy and sets them up for a string of three powerful hits. Simply spam the Square button after blocking and Clive will use Titan's fist to punch the enemy three times. Mastering Titanic Block increases limit break gauge gain from any Titanic Block, precision or not, making this a great way to build up the limit gauge as well. This is certainly much easier than using Final Fantasy 16's Parry mechanic.

Titanic Block may seem weaker than other abilities from the Eikons in Final Fantasy 16 since it is defensive in nature, but the counter ability here makes it worth using. Even beyond that, it can be great if players are feeling overwhelmed by a lot of enemies and simply need to catch their breath.

Final Fantasy 16 releases on June 21st for PS5.
