Unlocking new Eikons is a huge part of progression in Final Fantasy 16, as each one grants Clive and the player a new Eikonic Feat. Gaining the power of Garuda bestows the Eikonic Feat called Deadly Embrace, which can both pull enemies towards Clive and pull Clive up into the air. This ability adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay and combat of this real-time Final Fantasy game, but only if players know how to use it properly. It even has a somewhat hidden feature that can be tremendously helpful against certain flying enemies.

Eikonic Feats are set abilities that come with each Eikon in Final Fantasy 16. The first one that players gain access to is Phoenix's Eikonic Feat, Phoenix Shift, but Deadly Embrace becomes available as soon as players attain the power of Garuda. To activate any Eikonic Feat, players just need to press Circle.

How to Use Garuda's Deadly Embrace

Pressing Circle will cause Clive to manifest Garuda's Claw, shooting it out toward an enemy. Smaller enemies that are grabbed by the claw will be pulled in towards Clive, taking a bit of damage and leaving them open for a combo. This is great for plucking mages and healers out of enemy ranks. Alternatively, if players use Deadly Embrace on larger enemies or certain bosses, it will instead pull Clive into the air towards them a little bit. This can be used to spectacular effect when stringing together aerial combos and is a great addition to Clive's varied arsenal.

Mastering Garuda's Deadly Embrace and Using it on Flying Enemies

Although it isn't entirely clear what triggers this, using Garuda's Deadly Embrace on flying enemies will sometimes pull them to the ground. This stuns the enemy and lets Clive get a ton of damage on them before they can recover. If players are having a hard time reaching enemies like this, they can spend AP in Final Fantasy 16 to master Deadly Embrace, increasing its range. Once mastered, nothing will be out of the player's reach. Naturally, this ability also pairs well with other Eikon Powers since many of them are somewhat short-ranged.

The power of wind will surely help as players follow Clive down his path of vengeance. There's also plenty to look forward to in terms of other Eikon powers to unlock and the Eikonic Feats that go with them. Titan's Eikonic Feat, for example, provides a defensive option rather than crowd control. Players can also use up to three Eikons at once, meaning there are many potential combinations.

Final Fantasy 16 releases on June 21st for PS5.
