Fans are entering an incredibly busy time in the video game industry. Not only has the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection recently dropped, but Pokemon Legends: Arceus is out now too. While many fans of the franchise may certainly enjoy their time with these, there are a lot of pressing games releasing soon too.

It seems impossible to really play and enjoy them all, but some may endeavor to while others try to play just one or two at launch. Still, gaming isn’t cheap so new video game releases in February 2022 could prove to be an expensive period for even the average run-of-the-mill gamer.

The Price of February 2022 Games

This is not to give a hard price and won’t factor in potential discounts, platform differences, or the like. This is simply so gamers can consider how much their wallets can viably handle. In the case that one platform difference is the other, then the latest platform was chosen (such as in the case of Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 vs. PS5).

  • February 1: Life is Strange Remastered Collection - $39.99
  • February 4: Dying Light 2 - $59.99
  • February 8: Sifu - $49.99
  • February 18: Horizon Forbidden West - $69.99
  • February 22: Destiny 2 The Witch Queen Expansion - $39.99
  • February 25: Elden Ring - $59.99

Overall, purchasing all of these major releases in February will set players back an approximate total of $319.94. Counting in other potential gems for February’s games, such as OlliOlli World, the Ezio Collection of Switch, The King of Fighters 15, Total War, or any of the games releasing in the next month, then players could potentially double that number. Buying every single release, which is itself impossible to keep up with, could easily break $1000.

Usually, months see one or two major releases, with such busy activity usually only happening around the holidays. As such, to see 6 major releases in February is somewhat surprising. More games have entered the early-year space in the past, like God of War, but even then the volume of releases didn't compare to the November sales. Truly, it feels like the video game industry is already entering a holiday shopping period, and this could have something to do with COVID-19’s impact on the industry. Regardless of the why, many fans are excited about all of these games.

On the one hand, that could mean making it harder to keep up with major releases, as March is almost nearly as packed with titles like Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, Kirby and The Forgotten Land, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands headlining the month. On the other hand, it’s got to be good for the industry at large in terms of sales, because if November is like Gamer Christmas, this February certainly qualifies as a holiday too.
