Choosing to wrap up the show with a bang, The Game Awards sent out two of the stars of the Fast & Furious film franchise to present the award for Game of the Year. Michelle Rodriguez and Vin Diesel shocked the audience as they came out onto the stage and announced the reveal trailer for Fast & Furious Crossroads, a new game based on the films.

In a nearly surreal moment, Diesel and Rodriguez walked on stage and proceeded to have a friendly conversation before eventually getting to the topic at hand and announcing the new game. The game itself looks to be a Burnout or Need for Speed style racing game that places players into the cars from the film series and sends them racing around a virtual city.

Fast & Furious Crossroads stars both Diesel and Rodriguez, along with fellow film star Tyrese Gibson, reprising their roles from the film series. The game will be returning Fast & Furious to gaming in an original title after it had been featured in Rocket League and Forza. However, it doesn't seem as though the player will be taking on the role as Dom, Letty, or Roman, instead playing an original character made for the game and interacting with the film characters throughout an original story. There aren't currently any specifics about Fast & Furious Crossroads aside from what is seen in the trailer or in the announcement on the game's official website, and it mostly showcases cinematics and stylized capture of gameplay outside of the regular bounds of play.

Fortunately, one thing that the trailer was able to reveal was that Fast & Furious Crossroads will be releasing in May 2020. This means that more information on gameplay and the overall story of the game should be coming soon as the title's release date isn't far off. With so little intel to go on at the moment, it's too early to speculate what exactly the new story or gameplay is going to look like.

Considering the track record of Slightly Mad Studios, one of the development studios involved in Fast & Furious Crossroads, this latest title has a decent chance of success. The company's experience working on titles like Project CARS should speak miles to the quality of Fast & Furious Crossroads, although that is assuming Slightly Mad Studios has a large part in development. Either way, fans of the Fast & Furious films will likely be happy to see the high speed action come to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2020.

Fast & Furious Crossroads is set to release in May, 2020 for PC, PS4, Xbox One.
