Some gamers worry that Far Cry 6's cross-generation status might severely cripple its performance, in part thanks to the notorious launch of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077. While the game's cross-gen nature wasn't the cause of all of its issues, the severity of its PS4 and Xbox One performance still left many gamers anxious about developers focusing on next-generation ports for ambitious titles and then making them cross-gen anyway to their own detriment.

Thus, when given the opportunity to talk with David Grivel following Far Cry 6's gameplay reveal, VGC asked the lead gameplay designer about Ubisoft's confidence in making Far Cry 6 a cross-generation title. Specifically, the gaming news reporter asked the developer what assurances he could give that Far Cry 6 wouldn't end up the same way Cyberpunk 2077 did. It also asked if Ubisoft had any plans to show off what the game looks like on last-gen consoles before officially releasing it.

According to Grivel, Far Cry fans don't have to worry about Far Cry 6 struggling on the PS4 and Xbox One. While Ubisoft certainly explored the limits of the game on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, it also made sure to stay wary of the game's performance on PS4 and Xbox One. Aside from the fact that the PS5 and Xbox Series runs the game at 4K 60fps, Grivel couldn't discuss other specific specs, but he assures fans that Far Cry 6 runs fine on all of its intended consoles, including PC and Stadia.

Even better, Grivel claimed that Ubisoft scheduled to show Far Cry 6 performances on other consoles in the coming weeks and months, which, of course, means fans will get to see firsthand how the game performs on PS4 and Xbox One. While such a showcase in no way guarantees that the game won't suffer cross-gen issues, it's something to look forward to nonetheless, and because Grivel states "in the coming weeks," there's a strong possibility Far Cry 6 will also appear in E3 2021 on June 12 - 15.

Ubisoft's latest display of Far Cry 6 already disclosed a ton of new information about the title and its features, including providing a new intense story trailer with Giancarlo Esposito's ruthless character, Anton Castillo, as well as greater insight into Dani Rojas, the main character players will take control of. If the game does appear at E3, it'll certainly be interesting to see what it explores next. Conceivably, it'll showcase how the new cute puppy comes into play.

Far Cry 6 launches October 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
