In the past, people have had mixed feelings about the Far Cry games. Some were epic, while others missed the mark, or strayed too far from their habitual narrative. But most gamers agree that Far Cry 6 is one of the best in the series. The latest installment smoothes over a lot of issues from past games, making it one of the best in the series so far.

In Far Cry 6, players find themselves trapped in a massive open-world environment on the fictional island of Yara, where fascist dictator Anton Castillo becomes the main antagonist. The frighteningly realistic situations and epic action scenes captivate gamers in a way no other Far Cry game has. But as always, there are some unresolved questions and mysteries that players want to figure out before getting ready for the next games.

7 How Did Dani And Paolo Survive El Doctor?

Far Cry 6 El Doctor

While this might be a simple creative decision, players are still asking the question: why didn't El Doctor kill Dani and Paolo? It's a known cliche from movies and games, that the antagonist never kills prisoners, and this almost always leaves them in a sticky situation.

In the game, El Doctor captures Dani and Paolo, and instead of simply "disposing of them," he injects Dani with a toxin. After this, it seems like a stretch that Dani and Paolo survive this scene. Even if they didn't kill the scientist, it's likely that Castillo himself would've killed him because of his errors.

6 Why Keep Bembe Alive?

Far Cry 6 Bembe

Another "narrative error", is keeping Bembe alive. Dani has a clear chance to kill Bembe, but doesn't. The reason for the hesitation? "There will always be a Bembe." This scene was underwhelming for a lot of players, because the logical decision would've been to kill him, instead of coming up with an excuse. Considering Dani clearly isn't above killing people, the excuse just doesn't make sense here.

This might also be a creative decision regarding the storyline and script, but it still seems illogical for most players, as almost everyone was wishing to end the smuggler's life in that situation. Over time, more and more people began to come to the same conclusion: Far Cry 6's narrative is vastly different than other games in the franchise.

5 A Sense Of Safety

Far Cry 6 Yara

Far Cry 6 is considerably different from other Far Cry games, but one thing was especially weird for a lot of players. There's an unexpected sense of safety and predictability in the game. As mentioned above, a lot of characters are almost "too safe," rescued by nothing other than the script itself. Often, the narrative didn't even continue without the presence of the hero, and allies didn't do as much when fighting together. It was as if the game was waiting for the player to come and save the day.

But a more conspicuous change was the environment. Compared to Far Cry 4, the unforgiving environment of the gameplay was nerfed. There weren't as many ambush attacks, and animals didn't attack in the wild. Even during attacks, the AI seemed much less intelligent, giving players an unexpected sense of safety even throughout risky missions. This kind of plot armor is unfamiliar for fans of the series.

4 The Underwhelming Death Of Diego

Far Cry 6 Diego and Castilla

A lot of lingering questions after playing Far Cry 6 are targeting the script itself, and the lack of three-dimensionality that some characters get. There are also a lot of pivotal scenes that could have been beautifully explained, but instead were left lingering. One of these scenes was when Castillo killed his son, Diego.

The easy answer to this scene is that Castillo is an evil, power-hungry dictator, that's why he killed his son so seemingly easily. But throughout the game, players see that Castillo cares for Diego's wellbeing. This makes the psychopath theory simply not good enough for the viewers. A simple explanation of his actions would have been better for the sake of the scene. Anton could have had an even more evil demeanor, fleshing out the character. On the other hand, a sense of remorse before he ends his own life after killing his son would have changed the character in another direction.

3 Will Vaas Return For Far Cry 7?

Far Cry Vaas

At the end of the game, there's a hidden after-credit scene showing a conversation between the "Smuggler" and Juan Cortez. Far Cry fans can immediately identify the Smuggler as Vaas from Far Cry 3, which could hint that Vaas will return in Far Cry 7. The reintroduction of the character opens a lot of possibilities for future narratives and leaves players with a lot of questions, especially regarding the character's supposed death in the third game.

Some people theorize that Far Cry 6 is set in an alternate timeline where Vaas is still alive. Ubisoft can either confirm this theory, setting the rest of the series in alternate timelines, or simply explain away the supposed death of the character, bringing him back in the next game. Whichever the case, opportunities are endless.

2 Is Diego A Young Vaas?

Far Cry Theory: Is Diego A Young Vaas?

Due to the post-credit sequence of the game and the tragic passing of young Diego, this question more or less answeres itself, but some fans still theorize that Diego is supposed to be a young Vaas. Combined with the theories that the game is set in an alternate timeline, anything can happen.

The theory began as an innocent speculation due to the physical similarities, the most obvious being the scar on both characters eyebrow that looks exactly the same. While this theory won't be answered in the near future, it's still a fun one to think about.

1 Will The Same Setting Appear In The Next Game?

Far Cry 6 Yara

Yara wasn't exactly in a state of bliss when the game ended. Although Castillo dies, and Diego was buried by Dani and Juan, Yara is left without a leader, in a state of even more violence and uncertainty. It's possible that the creators will leave the country in this uncertain state, but it's also possible that they may continue the story by using the same setting for the next game, but with a new narrative.

It's certain that Yara will be a setting for several violent civil wars. But will the creators resolve this story, or leave it as is, making the ending just as realistic as some other pivotal factors in the storyline?

Far Cry 6 is available on Xbox Series X&S, Xbox One, Play Station 4, Play Station 5, Amazon Luna, Google Stadia, and Microsoft Windows.
