As many will no doubt have seen earlier today, a new leak from the PlayStation Store revealed that a sixth game in the Far Cry series is coming to consoles very soon, with the cover art and release date hitting the marketplace. It seems recent rumors surrounding Ubisoft's newest project were accurate as well, with Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito taking center stage as the game's main antagonist.

Wisely, Ubisoft has opted not to play coy surrounding the comprehensive leak, coming out on Twitter in the hours since its debut to confirm that the images are authentic. The company's reaction itself appears to confirm a little more about Esposito's character, including showing his in-game model, while also promising fans that they'll get more news at Sunday's Ubisoft Forward showcase.

The Twitter post jokingly reads "Anton would not be pleased," alluding to the leak and teasing a little more about the powerful presence it seems Giancarlo Esposito's antagonist will play. Alongside this, the tweet also features a short clip of Anton lighting a cigar and inhaling it before the camera pans up to the show the face of the iconic actor. The footage then cuts to a tease for Sunday's broadcast, where players can undoubtedly learn lots more about the next entry in the franchise and its charismatic main villain.

As for the game itself, it seems this morning has been rife with news surrounding the title, as fans begin to speculate about exactly what the sequel will offer. According to the description on the PlayStation Store, players will take on the role of Dani Rojas, a freedom fighter living on an island known as Yara. According to the synopsis, the island is a "tropical paradise frozen in time," with Esposito's Anton ruling the beautiful location with an iron fist. He also has a son called Diego, who, according to the description, is looking to follow in his father's blood-soaked footprints.

Interestingly, fans have already theorized that Far Cry 6 will have a lot to do with its most acclaimed predecessor, with many noting that Diego's slit eyebrow is oddly reminiscent of the one possessed by Far Cry 3's iconic lead antagonist, Vaas. The facial feature has led many to believe that this sixth entry will act as a prequel that sets up the eccentric villain's past, especially as Michael Mando recently teased he might reprise the role in a future game. It seems, however, that all will be revealed this Sunday.

According to the leak, Far Cry 6 will launch on February 18, 2021, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development as well.
