Like the previous Far Cry games, Far Cry 6 is open-world and players will spend their gameplay exploring each corner. Upon starting, the map will be darkened with no markers indicating FND bases, checkpoints, or ambushes. The more the player explores Yara and saves it from Castillo's forces, more of the map will become visible, and Dani can Fast Travel to more places.

In Far Cry 6, all of Yara will be completely blocked off until Dani completes "The Guerrilla" operation on Isla Santuario. Once the prologue is completed, anywhere is fair game. While it's necessary to go to each region and unlock the Guerrilla Camps, there are other areas players may want to check out too.

Updated on December 17th, 2021 by Hodey Johns: After finishing the tutorial island, players are granted access to all of Yara. Yara is not a small location and it can be very easy to get lost. Most players will go from quest marker to quest marker, hoping to unlock everything that they need. Unfortunately, this will result in finding some very helpful items after the game is all but beaten. Smart gamers will plan their actions ahead of time and make a plan about where to go. This article has been updated with even more locations to visit early on, setting up players for success within the first few hours so that Castillo doesn't stand a chance.

Yami's Chop Shop

Far Cry 6 Initial Location Of Yami Suarez

Although the racing missions are available immediately, there is very little context to them and Dani treats the voice as a mysterious stranger. For players who like to maximize the role-playing experience, the conversations are improved after meeting Yami, the racemaster, face-to-face at her chop shop.

Additionally, she offers free rides to Dani for completing a specific set of races that are unlocked after talking to her. As a newer player, that makes it wise to visit her place in western Madrugada somewhat early since these rides are ordinarily rare and expensive.

Parting Gifts

Far Cry 6 Parting Gifts Treasure Hunt Map Location

Grenade Launchers are superior to rocket launchers in about every way, but getting ahold of one is easier said than done. The game is aware of their power and makes them somewhat difficult to get. Those who head to the southeast of El Este can find one early and free, though!

After completing the "Parting Gifts" treasure hunt, Dani is rewarded with a Grenade Launcher. With some modifications, this can help deal with all enemy vehicles until a regular source of EMP damage comes along.

Caverna River

Far Cry 6 Caverna River Location For An Avispa Buzzer

By far and away, the most desirable vehicle is the Avispa Buzzer. It's easy to control, compact for landing in tight places, and tougher than it looks. Once players find one and park it in a camp, they're set for life. But where can they get one just sitting around?

Thankfully, somebody has abandoned theirs on a wooden platform in Madrugada by the Caverna River. Have Dani pick it up, then take it to any camp. Montero Farm is close and a place that early-game players should have visited by this point.

Oluwa Cave

far cry 6 oluwa cave

This can be found during the first handful of Operations on Isla Santuario. Locating Oluwa Cave on the map requires speaking to an NPC at Cabeza Fuel Depot. After this, players can mark it on the map and follow the objective marker.

An easy way to find Oluwa Cave is to start from starting from Clara's Camp. This location is important because it will start the "Triada Blessings" Yara Story, which in turn unlocks the amigo, Oluso.

Montero Farm

far cry 6 guerrilla camp montero farm

There's a reason Clara recommends Dani visit Madrugada first. The Montero Farm isn't too difficult to unlock, and the player won't run into any Air Canons (unlike El Este) so they're free to fly right in.

Montero Farm is also where players can unlock Chorizo in the "Who's a Good Boy?" Yaran Story. Unlocking a Guerrilla Camp will also allow players to start building Camp Facilities.

GDP Oil Platform

far cry 6 gdp oil platform

The GDP Oil Platform can be a chore to get to because it's at the top left corner of Yara's map. Because the GDP Oil Platform is an FND Base, players need to liberate it first. Thus, it may not be a good idea to take a helicopter or other flying vehicle unless players want to face a wave of reinforcements.

Eventually, players will need to go to GDP Oil Platform to get the Yaran Contraband, but it also houses the Supercharger shotgun. This is a powerful weapon with a built-in suppressor, making it ideal for stealth-based missions.

Camp Maximas

far cry 6 camp maximas

As a Guerrilla Camp, Camp Maximas is a definite must-visit, whether for story reasons or to have another place to plant Camp Facilities.

Visiting Camp Maximas also creates a Fast Travel location in Valle de Oro, so it's a good idea to liberate Camp Maximas first. Doing this also opens the sidequest "Boom or Bust."

Feroza

far cry 6 feroza boom boom

Feroza is a good place to loot supplies and resources for Camp Facilities. Inspecting the note on the post in Camp Maximas will unlock the Yaran Story "Boom or Bust" and allow players to follow an objective marker directly to Feroza.

RELATED: Far Cry 6: All Missions

This is important because it's how players recruit the dog Boom Boom, Far Cry 6's second Good Boy amigo. The items available at Feroza aren't bad either.

Patriot's Peak

far cry 6 patriot's peak

This location is unlocked by doing the "Meet the Legends" operation in El Este. While flying seems to be the best way into El Este, but there are too many Anti-Aircraft Cannons that won't hesitate to blast Dani out of the sky. The safest way to Patriot's Peak is by taking a boat and walking or destroying the Anti-Aircraft Cannons first and then flying.

Liberate nearby FND bases to unlock more Fast Travel locations. Like Montero Farm and Camp Maximas, this is a Guerrilla Camp where players can build their last two Camp Facilities. Completing "Meet the Legends" also opens the player up to more Yaran Stories.

Alvarez Farm

far cry 6 chicharron man's best friend quest

Unlike the other locations, players cannot Fast Travel to Alvarez Farm. After reading the note by El Tigre's bar, head for Alvarez Farm by using the wingsuit or flying from Patriot's Peak.

At Alvarez Farm, players can unlock the combat-loving rooster, Chicharron. Much like Guapo, Chicharron is an aggressive amigo and is ideal for missions where players can forgo stealth. Since Far Cry 6 doesn't allow two Fangs for Hire/Amigos to be taken out at the same time, it's important to recruit the amigos as soon as possible.

Triada Relics Locations

far cry 6 relics

Upon visiting Oluwa Cave and starting the Yaran Story, players will be able to visit three separate locations to collect the Triada Relics. There's Ida's Relic (Madrugada), Oku's Relic (Valle de Oro), and Mimi Abosi's Relic (El Este). These should be marked on the map with a purple Treasure Hunt spot icon if the player is tracking the "Triada Blessings" Yaran Story. Therefore, all the player needs to do is go to the objective marker.

Keep in mind that Oku's Relic can only be collected at night. This relic is in Crus Del Salvador inside a giant fortress/estate. Once the player has all the relics, return to Oluwa's Cave to undo the final lock and thereby recruit Oluso.

Esperanza's West Checkpoint

far cry 6 esperanza's west checkpoint

The first operation to take place directly inside Esperanza is "Paradise Lost," where players can get the MBP .50 sniper rifle. There's a reason, though, to liberate Esperanza's West Checkpoint. As more or less Castillo's Domain, Esperanza is filled with Anti-Aircraft Forces. There aren't any visible Aircraft Canons to destroy, but they will shoot on sight. Unlike the Anti Aircraft Canons around Yara, these will not give the player any warning. If players aren't expecting it or if they neglect the in-game warning, they can be in for a rude awakening if they take a helicopter or wingsuit.

Thus, it's best to liberate the closest checkpoint, which is Esperanza's West Checkpoint. A little further up the road is Fort Esperanza, an FND Base. However, players looking to save time can instead liberate the checkpoint and drive into Esperanza from there. Unlocking this checkpoint gives players somewhere close to getting into Esperanza. Besides, there's nothing more painful than flying thousands of miles only to get shot down and respawn at the other end of the map.

Libertad Camp

far cry 6 libertad camp

As the second region to be unlocked, Libertad Camp serves as the place to build and upgrade Supermos and buy Resolver Weapons. These can't be purchased anywhere else, so players looking for special weapons and gear should remember to check back on Libertad Camp every time their Rank goes up.

In addition, Libertad Camp also doesn't have soldiers roaming about, making it a safe zone for players to restock on ammo or do whatever they please. This location is also how players can unlock the secret ending and get the "Hidden In Plain Sight" Achievement/Trophy.

Far Cry 6 was released on October 7th, 2021, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
