There are plenty of missions in Far Cry 6 that will keep the player busy. Because players will occasionally be given new recruits or weapons, it’s wise to do as many as possible. This results in a more complete experience and a better understanding of the story, plot, and characters.
Far Cry 6 's base game has a total of 106 missions scattered across Yara's five regions. Missions are broken down into Operations, Yaran Stories, and Treasure Hunts. Objectives that aren’t included are the red icons marked on the minimap for “Ambush” or "Checkpoints."
Updated on June 28th, 2023 by Hodey Johns: Don't let it be said that there aren't things to do in Far Cry 6. Players can waste double-digit hours farming, crafting, and exploring without ever touching the game's missions. When they do start to knock out missions, they may be shocked at how one leads to another at almost every turn. Sometimes finishing one escort quest leads to an area with three or more quest-givers. To keep this from getting out of control, this guide has been updated to break down each mission by location, whenever possible (some span multiple areas). Also, sections regarding the DLCs and Expansion have been added and the final list of Special Operations has been completed.
Operations (Main Story)
Players who aren’t looking for 100% completion need to only do the Operations to beat the game. These quests are part of the campaign and are responsible for driving the conflict/story between Libertad, its allies, and Castillo.
There are Operations in every Yaran Region on the map. Players will need to fly or use a boat to get from Zamok Archipelago (Libertad HQ) to one of the Regions following the Prologue.
Far Cry 6 has a total of 56 Operations. Missions marked with (*) unlock amigos. Stay on the lookout for secrets many players still haven't discovered while completing these missions.
Prologue
- La Noche De La Muerte
This is the first mission in the game and functions as a guided tutorial.
Isla Santuario
- The Lucky One
- * Juan of a Kind
- Du or Die
- Fire and Fury
- Fuel the Revolution
- Libertad Rises
- The Guerrilla
Monteros/Madrugada
Although players are allowed to choose which region to go to after Isla Santuario’s Operations, Clara pushes Dani toward Madrugada first. These involve aiding the Montero Family against Jose Castillo. Many consider the story here to be a part of what makes this the best game in the franchise.
- Meet the Monteros
- Napoleon El Pequeno
- Blood Ties
- Clear the Air
- Second Son
- Packing Heat
- Sundown
- Bury the Hatchet
- Death Warrant
- Open Skies
- Diesel Daisy
- Fly Ball
- Justicia Montero
Maximas Matanzas/Valle de Oro
These missions take place in the Valle de Oro region. There are two additional sidequests compared to the Monteros. Unlike Madrugada and El Este, Dani will need to secure the Guerrilla Camp before they can start any of the Maximas Operations. Consider grabbing one of the best sniper rifles in the game to take out targets from afar.
- Meet Maximas Matanzas
- Balance the Books
- Precious Cargo
- Break the Chains
- Re-Education
- Hype Bomb
- Radio Libertad
- Guerrilla Radio
- Firebrand
- Bottle Episode
- Words Like Bullets
- Lost and Found
- Intervention
- Surgical Extraction
- Angel De La Muerte
The Legends/El Este
These are set in the El Este region. Avoid taking a flying vehicle to “Meet the Legends” objective marker because there’s an Anti-Aircraft Canon near the coast. Players will have to travel by boat, or they can walk/drive from Valle de Oro. Or equip some of the best gear around and prepare to bail out mid-flight.
- Meet the Legends
- Take Your Medicine
- Pics or it Didn’t Happen
- The New Revolution
- Bullet Points
- Knuckleball
- National Treasure
- Room Service
- Harpoon
- Our Right to Party
- Lion’s Roar
- Tourist Trap
- Weapon of Choice
- Surgical Strike
- The Deported
Esperanza & Isla Del Leon
These all take place in the northern region of Yara and each one is triggered by completing Operations.
- Paradise Lost
- Dead Drop
- Against the Wall
- The Lion’s Den
- The Battle of Esperanza
Yaran Stories
Yaran Stories are marked with purple reticles on the map. Doing Yaran Missions will open up more Guerrilla Bases on the map or recruit Bandido Leaders. Certain Operations need to be completed before Yaran Stories can become available.
There are 29 Yaran Stories in the game. If the player is not going for 100% completion, they can forgo doing any of these. Beware, to complete this gamers will need to tackle some of the toughest outposts in the franchise.

Treasure Hunts are ways for players to farm materials or acquire new gear and weapons. New Treasure Hunt locations can be found by investigating anything with an exclamation point.
Unlike the other mission types, Treasure Hunts usually highlight a section on the minimap for Dani to investigate once the mission starts. Their objectives aren't as specific as Operations or Yaran Stories. There are 21 Treasure Hunts in the game.

They are indicated by their blue and white star icon. Unlike the other missions, all Special Operations rewards are visible on the selection screen.
DLCs & Expansions
There are four additions to Far Cry 6 as of this writing, one full-on Expansion and three DLCs. They don't have "missions" as would typically be understood. This section will explain this phenomenon further.
Vaas: Insanity, Pagan: Control, & Joseph: Collapse
- N/A
The first three bits of DLC are roguelike experiences. In a way, each is a single mission unto itself. The game creatively stops players from leaving the map in the regular game and the DLCs follow in that tradition by keeping gamers in a replay loop.
There are various objectives in each DLC but these would be considered all individual pieces of one single "quest." Even then, it's hard to call it a mission since completing the events will result in a replay. They can each be treated as a single experience.
Lost Between Worlds Expansion
- N/A
Similar to the DLCs, the Lost Between Worlds expansion is a roguelike experience. It differs from the rest in important ways, especially as it is more integrated into Dani and the existing story in Yara. Various portals still take Dani out of Yara, however, so grab some pro tips for handling this new aspect of the game.
Because of the template used, the "missions" aren't numbered. Like the rest of the DLC roguelike content, objectives are designed to change and remain replayable. Missions aren't completed, they only refresh. Players will enjoy farming up for the best loadouts by participating.
Far Cry 6 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
