Consequently, Fantastic Four MCU casting rumors have been going about non-stop, and now an unexpected source might have confirmed the most prominent casting rumor. A webpage on the SAG-AFTRA Foundation website offering a career retrospective on highly beloved leading man Pascal might have given away more than it should have. "Pascal recently wrapped production on Ridley Scott's highly anticipated GLADIATOR 2 and will soon begin production on Marvel Studios' FANTASTIC FOUR," read a portion of the bio section.

Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller in The Last of Us

While the entry has since been amended to remove the announcement of Pascal's involvement in Fantastic Four, the damage has been done. While all manner of speculation has been on the table for months now, including talk of Adam Driver taking on the role of Mr. Fantastic, the most prominent and popular murmurs had Pascal pegged for the role. That said, it was noted that the Fantastic Four casting was subject to scheduling details being fixed. The line from the SAG-AFTRA webpage confirms that the scheduling conflict with Gladiator 2 has been worked out and serves as the first corporate confirmation of Pascal's role in Fantastic Four.

The public perception recently has been that Pascal could be the ultimate franchise actor and his potential arrival to the MCU in a prominent role touted by Marvel Studios boss Feige as pivotal to the MCU's plans would only serve to deepen that reputation. While there’s no assurance that the Fantastic Four role is indeed his, the odds of the information being false are pretty low, and it's much more likely that this is an accurate and potentially massive mistake on the part of the webpage author. With prominent and fan-favorite roles in Star Wars, DC, Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, and smaller roles in many more iconic franchises, the MCU was the next logical step for Pascal and one that fans are excited about. Regarding experience and ability, the role would be in good hands.

Fans can only hope that this solid casting decision is indicative of more good things to come, as Marvel's bad luck with the Fantastic Four isn't exactly new, and the stakes are much higher now that the company’s first family is joining the highly successful and currently embattled MCU. If there's one certain thing, many more people will be visiting the pages on the SAG-AFTRA Foundation website.

Fantastic Four is set to launch Phase Six of the MCU on May 2, 2025.
