While fans have been waiting on any news about the Fallout television series, not a lot has been revealed so far. But, to mark the 25th anniversary of the Fallout franchise's first release, Amazon Prime Video had a surprise for fans. “Congratulations and Happy 25th Birthday! We made something special for the occasion,” the streaming service tweeted, along with an image of a scene from the highly anticipated series. The stylized image focuses on one of the main aspects of the game franchise, the vault.

In the Fallout games, the vault door is typically seen during the opening sequences. The Vault is essentially an underground space where people lived to survive the apocalypse. In the image released by Amazon Prime Video, the vault door is open, with a person seemingly walking through as three individuals watch on. It is unclear whether the individual walking through the door is stepping in or out of the vault, with both scenarios leading to very different consequences in the games. People need to step out of the vault to explore the world, form alliances, and find armor and weapons to protect themselves. In the process, they run into other scroungers and creatures, with not all meetings being positive ones.

The image is all that fans are getting for now, as Amazon Prime Video has not released any further information for the time being, including a release date. The Fallout series is one of many game adaptations that are currently in production. Millions of copies of the games have sold globally in the past 25 years, with Fallout 4 being the most popular one, with 13.51 million copies sold globally. The games are typically from the view of one of the survivors of the apocalypse. The series’ cast roster already includes Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Walton Goggins, Ella Purnell, and Aaron Moten.
