Obsidian co-founder Feargus Urquhart revealed that he would very much be interested in making another Fallout title. It's not clear when the next Fallout game will release or even be unveiled, as currently Bethesda is hard at work getting Starfield ready for next year. And it seems that after the release of its ambitious space-faring RPG, the developer will return to the fantasy setting of The Elder Scrolls. Fallout 5 will likely be revealed at some point after The Elder Scrolls 6 then, putting it more than a couple of years away.

This hasn't stopped plenty of fans from getting hyped about what their next journey through the nuclear wasteland could look like, as many hope that the series will again be able to reach the heights of past iterations. While Fallout 4 did get a mostly positive reception from the fanbase, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas still remain incredibly popular entries in the series despite being over a decade old. The latter Obsidian classic is especially regarded with esteem by fans, with many wanting a remake of Fallout: New Vegas.

It seems that Obsidian may also be interested in creating another Fallout title. In a recent interview with DualShockers, Obsidian co-founder Feargus Urquhart spoke about his fondness for the Fallout franchise, stating that he would "love" the opportunity for Obsidian to work on another game in the series. According to Urquhart, it is not a question of whether Obsidian would make the game or not, it is more a matter of "will the opportunity arise?"

Urquhart previously worked on the first two Fallout games during his time with Interplay Entertainment and Black Isle Studios, so it's understandable that he has a passion for the franchise. Currently, Obsidian released Grounded version 1.0, and the developer is working on a handful of other titles including fantasy RPG Avowed and a sequel to The Outer Worlds. This doesn't mean that a new Fallout game would be out of the question, as Urquhart says that the company will be looking at its next games soon, even stating that he'd be "surprised if Fallout isn't on that list."

Even if Obsidian did return to make another Fallout game, it seems that this title would be a few years away at least. However, for those wanting a new journey in the Fallout universe, there are some interesting and ambitious mods which might just be able to fill the gap between now and the release of a new game. Fallout London, for example, gives fans a wholly new experience using the assets of Fallout 4.

Fallout 5 is reportedly in development.
