Fallout: Nuevo Mexico Timeline and Factions

Fallout: Nuevo Mexico takes place in the year 2255, about 10 years after the events of Fallout 2. According to Bishop, this world is vastly different from that of Fallout 3, which had the organized and well-equipped Brotherhood of Steel, and Fallout: New Vegas, where Mr. House maintained some form of control through his powerful rule. In contrast, the world of Nuevo Mexico is without a set government, leaving it in a state of semi-chaos and turmoil. The lack of a centralized authority has allowed three major factions to rise to power and control different parts of the world, creating a complex and unpredictable landscape as players encounter La Fuerza, Shark's Gang, and the Vivian Family.

Fallout: Nuevo Mexico Faction - La Fuerza

La Fuerza is a neutral good Fallout faction that aims bring order to the chaos. They would prefer to do so through diplomacy, but they are prepared to use force when necessary to spread their influence. Once they have taken control of an area, La Fuerza can reveal their true nature as a neutral good faction, offering shelter, medicine, jobs, and working to establish an economy for the people. In a world where no clear government exists, La Fuerza serves as a shining example of what is possible when people come together for the greater good.

“La Fuerza is a neutral good faction that is really trying to purify everything in whole, make it not so lawless. Now, they would like to be diplomatic about things, but a lot of people in Nuevo Mexico don't feel the same way, and so they kind of have to use force.”

Fallout: Nuevo Mexico Faction - Shark's Gang

Shark's Gang is a neutral evil faction and takes center stage as the second major faction in the Fallout mod. Drawing inspiration from the iconic James Bond villain Jaws, faction leader Shark governs his faction with a firm hand, valuing efficiency over morality. With a loyal following and a concentrated army in the northern region of the Nuevo Mexico, Shark's Gang is described as a force to be reckoned with in the Wasteland’s battle for control.

“Shark believes that a little bit of fear should be mixed in with power and control. Not quite like a dictator. He believes a lot in carrying your own weight, and if you cannot carry your own weight, you are useless. So the strong survive in his gang.”

The third faction in Fallout: Nuevo Mexico is the Vivian Family, a dangerous and powerful criminal organization with a focus on control, drugs, weapons, and human trafficking. “They are very violent and power hungry people and are obsessed with control,” Bishop said.

Their actions have sparked a war with La Fuerza and Shark's Gang, resulting in an uneasy alliance between the two opposing factions. The Fallout mod player character, the Convict, finds themselves caught in the middle of this conflict, with the choice to side with any of the factions and potentially shape the outcome of the war.

Fallout: Nuevo Mexico's Hub Worlds and Biomes

One of the most exciting elements of Fallout: Nuevo Mexico are the unique “hub worlds” that the mod features.

“This isn't going to be your traditional Fallout map where everything's open world, and you can just walk anywhere at any time. It's a bunch of different hub worlds and different biomes.”

These hub worlds consist of different biomes including an urban environment, a snowy climate in the northern, mountainous region, and a white sands area in the south. These biomes not only offer a novel visual experience, but they also add a level of realism to the game that sets it apart from standard Fallout mods.

In addition to the new factions and environmental features, players can also expect a wealth of new content, including quests, storylines, and weapons. Bishop revealed to Game ZXC that there will be several treasure hunting quests included in the game, one of which is based on a real legend in New Mexico called the Red Hill Treasure. In addition, there will be a unique plasma pistol available in the game that is likely to get the attention of fans.

At present, Fallout: Nuevo Mexico is still in development, and no official release date has been set. However, fans can look forward to new teasers that will release throughout this year, while checking it out HERE.
