One Fallout: New Vegas player has shown off their interesting roleplaying idea, beating the game while playing as former US President Ronald Reagan. The roleplaying potential in Fallout: New Vegas is enormous, but this idea really takes it outside the box.
When Fallout: New Vegas was first released, the game was praised for the remarkable freedom it offered players to play however they wanted. It seemed as though Obsidian had thought of every eventuality, with every small action determining the outcome of the game. While the developer likely didn't intend for the game to be played as Ronald Reagan, it's funny that the game offers the potential to do so. The game's community, while small, remains extremely dedicated to one of the best RPGs ever made. Because of this, there will surely be more hilarious roleplay ideas to come in the future.
The fun role-playing idea was created by YouTuber Nerbit, who beat the entirety of Fallout: New Vegas as Ronald Reagan. Their first act was to immediately acquire a suit to wear, to appear as presidential as possible. Next, they acquire Euclid's C-Finder, a Fallout: New Vegas weapon that is the equivalent of a space laser, referring to Reagan's plan to create a nuclear defense system with space lasers. They then use said laser to cause mayhem across the wasteland until the main quest of the game is over and done with.
Nerbit is a YouTuber that specializes in completing Bethesda challenge runs, with this being the latest one. In the past, Nerbit even completed Skyrim while playing as a Sith Lord from Star Wars, using a variety of mods to achieve his goal. He is yet to confirm exactly what challenge run is coming up next, but he did confirm that the Ronald Reagan video only happened as a result of fan requests.
There are many Fallout fans out there who believe Bethesda's attempts at the franchise simply don't live up to Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas. Obsidian's games since have been well-received by gamers, but none have had the same lasting impact. Plenty of gamers want Obsidian to return for Fallout: New Vegas 2, and while developers have spoken about the prospect in the past, it seems as though it's destined not to happen. It's unfortunate, as it's likely leaving money on the table for both Obsidian and Bethesda. Right now, Obsidian has its hands full with the development of The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed well underway, so it would be a long time before anything would come to fruition.
