A new mod has been recently released by user LDTheCourier that looks to reinstate some cut content from Fallout: New Vegas. Given the replay value of this beloved Bethesda RPG, many gamers regularly find themselves coming back to the Mojave wasteland to see if they can discover new things. However, some may be surprised to learn that not everything that was developed for the game made it into the final product, and what's been put back in may make fans wonder why it was removed in the first place.
For example, LDTheCourier's mod overhauls the world of Fallout: New Vegas, especially when it comes to its residents. The project adds more NPCs to various locations and improves their AI capabilities. This means that characters now have daily routines, such as being able to go for walks. The mod even reinstates an entire town called Underpass, which was originally cut from the game. The reason why a lot of content was removed in the first place is allegedly down to the console ports of the game being unable to handle too much, so the modder has re-enabled them for added immersion.
Of course, most gamers understand that sometimes things have to get left on the cutting floor, as it were. Not everything can be left in when a game gets published, and this one is no different. There's lots of content that was cut from Fallout: New Vegas, such as the ability to join the Khan faction, the Brotherhood of Steel's training simulation, an expanded New Vegas Strip, and some post-game content. There are bound to be numerous reasons why a lot gets cut from a game as large as Fallout, but at least LDTheCourier's mod brings back some of it.
Despite being nearly 12 years old at this point, the open-world post-apocalyptic title is regarded by many as one of the best in the series. There are also plenty of Fallout: New Vegas mods that keep things fresh after all these years, including one that finally allows gamers to play as a courier.
With Bethesda announcing Fallout 5 not long ago, though some would say it was too soon for an announcement, the long-running franchise will continue to delight fans. Hopefully the developer has learned a lot from the backlash about Fallout 76 and the next release will please more of the fan base. In any case, a new game is on the horizon, though it remains to be seen whether it will be as celebrated as New Vegas.
