Fallout: New Vegas has seen a resurgence in popularity along with the entire franchise as the release of the highly popular Fallout TV show has fans returning to the Mojave Wasteland. Developer Obsidian Games focuses primarily on making deep RPGs, so you should expect more complex, but rewarding interactions in New Vegas. There are many companions that can aid you in your adventures, but they usually require you to complete a quest for them beforehand.

ED-E is a friendly eyebot that you can have as a companion in Fallout: New Vegas. ED-E is a non-humanoid companion, which means you can bring along one of the other recruitable characters as well, but he must be repaired first before he can accompany you. ED-E will also give you the Enhanced Sensors perk while traveling with you, which gives your character higher perception and the ability to detect invisible enemies. This guide will demonstrate where you can find the parts to get him up and running again.

Where to Find ED-E in Fallout: New Vegas

ED-E is located in the town of Primm. If you're following the main story, you will end up here after leaving the tutorial area in Goodsprings. The town is in disarray due to a nearby prison break.

ED-E is on the counter in the Mojave Express building. You can ask Johnson Nash about the robot, and he says you can keep it if you can make the repairs.

How to Repair ED-E

To repair ED-E, approach the damaged robot and click or press the interact button to examine it. You have multiple options depending on your character's skills. ED-E can immediately be repaired if you have at least 65 repair skill. Alternatively, the science option requires a skill check of 55 science followed by a 35 repair check.

Since those are high skill levels for the beginning of the game, you should try to repair it. The courier will fail, but figure out what parts are needed. You need three pieces of scrap metal, two sensor modules, and one scrap electronics to repair ED-E if your skills are too low.

Where to Find Sensor Modules, Scrap Electronics & Scrap Metal

Thankfully, most of these components can be found nearby at Lone Wolf Radio.

This abandoned radio station is directly to the southwest of the Goodsprings Source. The trailer will have scrap electronics on the entrance side and two sensor modules on the lower shelf. Loot any metal boxes and footlocker in the trailer to find one scrap metal.

The final two scrap metal pieces can be stolen right off the counter behind ED-E. Make sure to sneak and steal them out of sight. Use all these parts to repair ED-E and travel through the wasteland with your new robotic friend.
