How to Get into the Strip in Fallout New Vegas

Fallout New Vegas Old Ben

The Strip is quite an important location, and you will have to go there if you want to progress in Fallout: New Vegas. However, there are some Securitrons that won’t allow you to get into this district. They may even attack you if you try to walk into the Strip using brute force. Fortunately, there are a few ways to access this district.

The Official Way

Securitrons don’t allow those who are not wealthy to enter the Strip. So, they basically ask you to prove that you have enough money. You will have to collect 2,000 Caps to pass this check. Don’t worry, these robots won’t take your money. They just want to make sure that you are not a poor person and have enough Caps to spend in the Strip.

The Hacker Way

If your character has 80 points on Science, then you can try to hack one of the greeters. After that, the robot will let you get into the Strip, even if you don’t have enough Caps. So, this is an easy option if you play as a smart guy who likes to deal with robots and computers. However, this way is not available to characters who don’t pump the Science skill.

The Passport Way

Fallout New Vegas Passport

The greeter will let you pass if you have a New Vegas passport. This item can be acquired in two ways:

  • In the Freeside district, you can find the Mick & Ralph's shop. There you will meet a character named Ralph who can make you a fake passport for 500 Caps if you convince him. It requires you to have 50 Speech. If you have 50 Barter, you can pass another check and buy the item for 375 Caps.
  • You can complete the G.I. Blues side quest for The King. As a reward, you can choose to get a fake passport from Ralph for free.

The NCR Way

There is a monorail that allows you to travel between the Strip and Camp McCarran. If you use it, you will be able to get into the Strip, and Securitrons will stop bothering you. In order to get permission to use this thing, you will need to meet one of the following requirements:

  • You must have a Liked reputation with NCR.
  • Your character must wear NCR armor.
  • You must have Craig Boone as your companion. This character can be found in Novac.

Also, you can try to kill the NPCs who tell you that unauthorized personnel are not allowed to enter. If such an NPC is dead, then other NCR soldiers shouldn’t attack you.

The Brute Force Way

Finally, you can try to kill all Securitrons that get in your way. However, doing so will make you a criminal, and other Securitrons in the Strip will be hostile towards your character.

Reaching the Strip will help you progress in the game and continue your journey in the grim and dark post-apocalyptic world.
