The Fallout London mod team reveals that they initially had plans to implement ghouls that were based on members of the British royal family. Fallout fans are in a bit of an odd place right now, as Todd Howard has confirmed that Fallout 5 will be released after Elder Scrolls 6, meaning the next mainline entry in the franchise could still be many years away. However, just because there might not be an official new entry in the post-apocalytpic franchise anytime soon doesn't mean no content is being released for Fallout fans.

As has been the case for well over a decade now, Fallout modders have been hard at work to give fans another reason to hop back into their favorite nuclear wasteland. Without any new Fallout titles likely coming for some time, it is up to more ambitious and expansive mods to fill the hole created by the lack of full games. Fallout London is an expansion-sized mod created using Fallout 4. As the name suggests, Fallout London takes players across the pond and shows how other countries coped with the apocalypse.

Development on Fallout London seems to be going well, as shown by a recent progress video from the mod team. As well as showing off all the new features, textures, and more coming to Fallout London when it releases, the mod team also discussed some things they had to remove from their project. Initially, according to Project Lead Dean Carter, there was once a plan to include ghoul versions of the late Queen Elizabeth and her son, who currently reigns as King Charles.

However, Carter stated that the removal of the late Queen and current King of England comes from a decision made while creating the mod. "We've always maintained that if she was to pass away before the mod was complete, we would change it," Carter said. What Fallout London will change these figures to is unknown, with Carter stating that fans will just have to "wait and see." The Project Lead for Fallout London also doesn't want fans asking for this change to be undone. It is likely that the British Royalty will be replaced with some other form of ghoul Gentry, one of the many factions players will encounter in Fallout London.

Wanting to continue a traditional sense of ruling, the Gentry ask for the people of London to pay a tribute to the organization in order for aid. The aristocracy do have soldiers of their own through some of Fallout London's other factions, but they also have enemies in the numerous organizations in the mod. It seems that to survive, the player or Wayfarer in Fallout London may have to side with the Gentry or another faction, just as they would do in Fallout 4 to get an ending.

Fallout 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with the Fallout London mod slated for release in 2023.
