Bethesda has unveiled a new collectible anthology of the entire Fallout franchise, set to become available to PC gamers in April. Fans of Bethesda's longstanding post-apocalyptic RPG franchise have a lot to look forward to this Spring with the much anticipated Fallout TV series also set to go live on Amazon Prime on April 12.

Since the release of Fallout 4 in 2015, Fallout fans haven't exactly had it easy. The messy launch of the shared-world service experience Fallout 76 left large swaths of the fanbase disappointed. While Bethesda has been busy nursing Fallout 76 back to a respectable standing, the studio's future plans will see the next mainline Fallout title launch close to 2030 or later, after Bethesda has confirmed to be building The Elder Scrolls 6 next. On a more positive note, recently leaked Xbox v FTC court documents from the former's acquisition of Activision Blizzard revealed that Bethesda had been planning to release a remaster of the widely beloved Fallout 3. As the documents are several years old, it's possible that these plans may have changed or been scrapped, though the status of Fallout 3's remaster is not officially known.

While performance mods are fantastic, some of the most exciting mods are those that overhaul Fallout: New Vegas entirely and make it feel new.

Now, just under two months to go until the debut of Fallout's Amazon series, Bethesda has unveiled a new Fallout S.P.E.C.I.A.L Anthology, releasing on PC the day before the Amazon series goes live, on April 11. The package comes in a collectible mini-nuke case which houses seven S.P.E.C.I.A.L attribute cards, each with a PC code for their corresponding Fallout title. Included in the anthology is the original Interplay trilogy in Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics, as well as the Bethesda-made Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition, and Fallout 76. Obsidian Entertainment's fan-favorite Fallout: New Vegas is included as well. All DLC for Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas are included in their respective versions.

Games Included In The Fallout S.P.E.C.I.A.L Anthology:

  • Fallout
  • Fallout 2
  • Fallout Tactics
  • Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition
  • Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition
  • Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition
  • Fallout 76

Many fans of the Fallout franchise on console have been clamoring to be able to play some of the original games, especially Xbox gamers after its acquisition of Bethesda. Fallout fans under the announcement expressed their confusion at the fact that this new anthology is exclusive to PC. Even though the original Fallout games were designed for PC, console gamers have seen a multitude of PC-centric RPGs, RTS, and tactics games be sufficiently ported to Xbox and PlayStation over the years. With this in mind, it wouldn't be impossible for Bethesda to remake or remaster the original isometric Fallout games for console and PC at some point. On top of that, the rumored Fallout 3 remaster plans could still be alive and well, so Fallout fans may still have some interesting things to look forward to during the long road to Fallout 5.

The next mainline Fallout title is likely many years away, as Bethesda is moving on to The Elder Scrolls 6 after having just released Starfield last year. In the meantime, perhaps Bethesda could allow its now sister studio Obsidian to take another crack at a new smaller Fallout title, just like it did with New Vegas back in 2010, to hold fans over until the next big Fallout outing.
