Players crawling the wastelands of the Appalachia in Fallout 76 have no doubt found themselves at The Whitespring at one point or another. The area includes a resort, a bunker, and more merchants than you can shake a golf club at. Luckily, players can find plenty of those to shake at things, or more likely feral ghouls, as well.

With the Steel Dawn Update released, players have had a lot of new content to explore. Still, there may be things players should make sure they didn't miss back in Whirespring before setting out on new adventures.

10 Grab Grant's Saber

Grant's Sword Fallout 76

In a rush to get through to some of the larger quests in Whitespring, players may have missed a chance to grab a part of history. The sword once belonged to President Ulysses S. Grant and was a special heirloom he used during the civil war. This unique item in the game requires a password to be acquired, which can found on the shower floor in the Presidential Cottage and Museum. The sword is also part of a quest called Forging A Legend so players finding it for the first time should hunt down the rest of the questline as well.

9 Cap Stash Farming

Cap Stash Farming

Bottlecaps are the currency of the post-apocalypse and players need as many as they can get to afford some of the more expensive pieces of equipment in the game. While there are many ways to farm for bottlecaps, one of the best options is Cap Stash Farming. Players with the Cap Collector Perk can snag 70-80 Caps in every stash they find, and Whitespring has 19 potential spawn points clustered together where players can search.

8 DIY Room Service Quest

Room Service Quest

At one point, the locked rooms at the Whitespring were meant to be unlockable! Players would have been able to get Room Keys 201 through 206 by following a cut quest that was titled Room Service. Still, players looking for a bit of a DIY quest can still "complete" this quest. They only have to "Recover the {Item01} last seen at {TargetLocation01}" which is simple, right?

Okay, the actual items for the quest were also cut but the game contains items similar in weight and design. Players can follow the list of items and collect their counterparts for a small sense of satisfaction at having done a quest that will never be officially marked off.

7 Find The Fate Of James Wilcox

James Wilcox Letter And Location

One of the main characters of the storyline in Whitespring far before players were able to explore it was James Wilcox. He was a part of setting up all of the robots that slowly took the jobs of all the other employees at the resort. Most players would have missed this rarely found piece of lore as a small sheet of paper hidden beneath a wall safe isn't easy to spot. Those that find it can have a chuckle at James Wilcox's final fate.

6 The Whitespring Holotapes

Whitesprings Holotape Location

Offering only 20 caps and 200 experience, most players likely ignored the automatically assigned miscellaneous quest when entering the Whitespring for the first time. Fallout games have always had rich lore and fans that didn't hunt down these holotapes missed out on the full story of Whitespring. From the triumphs to tragedies, they are all worth seeking out to build up the world of the atomic wasteland.

5 Grind With Feral Ghouls

Whitesprings Golf Club

Fancy a little golf? Then why not check out the oddly seven-hole golf course at the Whitespring! Not only does the golf club hold lore about the fates of those who tried to brave staying at the resort many years ago, but players can relive the struggle of those last survivors by fighting off large numbers of feral ghouls.

While the original miscellaneous quest to take care of the feral ghouls doesn't offer much, players will find this is a safe grinding spot for experience as if things get too hairy, they can run back to the safety of the robots in town.

4 Real World Influences

The Greenbrier

The Whitespring is based on a real-world resort called The Greenbrier. The Greenbrier is located near White Sulphur Springs which is likely what inspired the name of the in-game area.

There was a bunker built in the area in the real world as well. Known as "Project Greek Island" at the time, it was built to create a space for emergency relocations of Congress Members and began construction shortly after the Cuban Missile Crisis. The bunker was released in 1992 and was thus decommissioned, but fans of the game can actually visit the bunker today as it has become a tourist attraction.

3 Find Vera's Predecessor

Vera and Lotus

While players have wanted, for some reason, to get massages from Aloe and Vera in Whitespring, these two Assaultrons thankfully cannot mash their spines into a fine powder. If fans need any more proof, they can track down what happened to Vera's Predecessor — Lotus.

Lotus can be found in an employees-only area near the diner. If they hunt down some of the terminal messages, they can find how Lotus was deactivated quite literally after killing a client. We recommend getting massages from a more qualified videogame character.

2 Race for the Presidency

Race for the Presidency

The reason players may have missed this one is not too many players run through the code of the game! Players who have dove deep into the lore of Fallout 76 know that Thomas Echart, while long dead, once rigged an election in his favor. Crafty players found that a multiplayer quest existed in the game where players were originally planned to use the system Thomas Echart used years ago to collect ballots and win an "election" against their opponent.

Players would have been granted a Presidential "power" suit as well as a Presidential Gauss rifle. The model for the rifle is available now as a paint option within the game for any players that want to experience a small part of this cut questline.

1 Vault-Tec Bobblehead

Vault Tech Bobbleheads

Finding the Vault-Tec bobbleheads can not only be fun but also provide incredibly helpful bonuses. There is one hidden away in Whitespring that players may have missed. Players need to head to the Whitespring Presidential Cottage and Museum and head to the second floor. If they enter the children's room, they can find the Bobblehead on the side table.
