Fallout 76 has a perfect path to take in the future by bringing players back to Washington D.C. for another adventure. While Fallout 76 already has its own wasteland to explore in the form of Appalachia, there's still plenty of room to expand. In particular, a throwback to Washington D.C. could provide a lot of fun new content that could add much more life to the game. Fallout 76 has several years under its belt already in terms of stories and adventures, and yet a trip to Washington D.C. could fill out another chapter in the game's illustrious history.

The fact that Fallout 76's latest update was released fairly recently should give players confidence that the game will continue growing in the days to come. The game has managed to advance beyond its original concept of a multiplayer wasteland and created its own exciting world for players to explore. With the rollout of Expeditions: Atlantic City, Fallout 76's wasteland is getting even bigger. Although not quite as big or critically acclaimed as The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76 is doing a fine job of bringing one of Bethesda's biggest names into the online sphere, and the best part is that it's far from finished.

Washington D.C. Could Be a Good Destination For Fallout 76

Fallout Already Visited Washington D.C. In The Past

The Capital Wasteland of Bethesda's highly influential Fallout 3 consists of the remains of what used to be Washington D.C. and the area surrounding it. As a result, longtime players of the series would already have a good idea of several of the local landmarks. In fact, a Fallout 76 expansion sending players to Washington D.C. would have the potential to be a nostalgia trip for those who played Fallout 3. Of course, not everything could be revisited, both for space issues as well as canon reasoning. Even so, Fallout 76 could give fans of Fallout 3 a big gift by heading back to their old neighborhood.

The Revolutionary War Could Inspire a Fallout 76 Expansion

Washington D.C. could be the source of Fallout 76's next big event. With Washington D.C. being the capital of pre-war America, and Fallout 76's title bringing to mind the year 1776, the game could bring in some content themed on the Revolutionary War. A few ideas could include period-era outfits and weapons to add to players' collections, such as muskets, rifles, and bayonets of the time. The game could even experiment with things like colonial-era ghouls or a faction inspired by the era's government. Such an idea might not be too far out of place as far as Fallout 76 is concerned.

Fallout has had Revolutionary War themes before, particularly in the case of Fallout 4 's Minutemen.

Washington D.C. In Fallout 76 Wouldn't be Fallout's First Road Trip

Adding Washington D.C. would hardly be the first significant expansion to Fallout 76's wasteland. Fallout 76's addition of Atlantic City is perfect evidence for that. In addition, since Appalachia in the game is roughly in the area of West Virginia, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that the protagonist could travel to Washington D.C. to have an adventure there. Considering how many past Fallout games have featured DLC that brings the player to different maps, it's not an unexpected factor anymore. There's solid precedent that could logically point to Fallout 76 getting an expansion in Washington D.C.

Fallout 76 still has room to expand, and those expansions could include an excursion to Washington D.C. In addition to providing players with more reasons to play Fallout 76, a Washington D.C. area would have a lot of potential in general. There would be plenty of room for fun throwbacks to Fallout 3 as well as new content that could give a new meaning to the game's title. Fallout 76's future can hold many more improvements that have yet to show themselves.
