Bethesda released a new update for Fallout 76, but one of the best new features for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users does not appear in the patch notes. Fallout 76 was initially released in October 2018 but still receives regular updates five years later with Bethesda adding new content and rewards for players to discover.

Unlike other entries in the Fallout franchise, Fallout 76 is an online multiplayer game where players can team up to defeat various enemies and explore an open-world four times bigger than the one from Fallout 4. After a rocky launch due to a lack of engaging content and various technical issues, Fallout 76 gathered a faithful community of players. Bethesda regularly provides new content updates, from new Fallout 76 seasons filled with exclusive rewards to new places such as The Pitt and the upcoming Atlantic City.

Fallout 76’s Once in a Blue Moon update brought various new content for players to discover, but the best feature for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users was not mentioned in the patch notes. Ever since the release of this update, Fallout 76 runs natively on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, with players able to experience this game with 4K graphics at 60 frames per second. Prior to the Once in a Blue Moon update, Fallout 76 was capped at 30 FPS and offered compatibility settings for next-gen users but didn’t fully support 4K at 60 FPS.

Fallout 76 is set to take players to a brand new location to scratch any player's itch for a New Vegas-style area to explore.

Fallout 76 players were thrilled to see this update on next-gen consoles, reporting a much smoother experience thanks to the 60 FPS compatibility. Xbox Series X users noticed that Bethesda removed the FPS boost option on Fallout 76 that allowed players to bump the frame rate from 30 to 60 FPS since the game now runs natively with the highest possible setting. Some Fallout 76 players requested new updates to further improve the user experience, such as the addition of a field-of-view slider like the one from Call of Duty: Warzone 2.

On top of this next-gen optimization, Fallout 76’s Once in a Blue Moon update introduced two new Cryptids, public events, side quests, rewards, and a Daily Ops Mutation. The Blue Ridge Caravan has plenty of new quests for players and themed rewards, while Vinny Costa offers a variety of daily quests with caps for anyone willing to complete them. The Once in a Blue Moon update also marks the beginning of Fallout 76’s Season 13 and its Hollywood-themed items to collect.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
