Fallout 76 has issued another Public Test Server (PTS) update in late April, teasing the changes set to roll out to everyone as part of the Skyline Valley update in June 2024. Identified by version number 0.2.1472.0, this release introduces nearly a dozen improvements and bug fixes, on top of shaking up Fallout 76 Daily Ops.

Like pretty much every other entry in the franchise, Bethesda's Appalachia-set live-service spin-off is currently enjoying a renaissance of sorts; since the premiere of Amazon's Fallout TV show, Fallout 76 broke five all-time player records in six days, and is currently peaking at over 50,000 concurrent players every day on Steam alone. The final weekend of April saw its simultaneous player count on Valve's platform approach 70,000 people.

Steam Players Can Now Try the Latest Fallout 76 PTS Update

And while this renewed interest in the game continues, so does Bethesda's content roadmap. The developer hence keeps revising the game on a regular basis, with the latest testament to its efforts arriving in the form of update 0.2.1472.0, which rolled out on Friday, April 26. This release is a Public Test Server update for Fallout 76, meaning that it's available to anyone who owns the game on Steam. The patch itself serves as a preview of Skyline Valley, the third big update arriving to the game as part of its Expeditions: Atlantic City expansion.

The new update marks the return of Fallout 76 Fasnacht Day, a seasonal event first introduced in the 2019 Wild Appalachia update. This in-game happening has replaced Dangerous Pastimes, although the switch did not coincide with the release of the new PTS update. Instead, Fasnacht Day has returned on Saturday, April 27, at 12pm ET. Its 2024 iteration introduces some changes aimed at improving the pacing and overall performance of the event, Bethesda said. The new and improved Fasnacht Day will be running at the top of each hour until April 29.

Bethesda Teases Mysterious Fallout 76 Nuke Change For April 29

Once that mini-test is over, Dangerous Pastimes will return indefinitely. Bethesda has advised players to try deploying Fallout 76 nukes from then on out, teasingly suggesting that "maybe something will happen" if they do. In the meantime, all PTS players now get to try new Daily Ops locations and encounter groups, which have been rotating every two hours since the 0.2.1472.0 update went live.

The new patch also makes no fewer than ten additional changes to various aspects of the game. E.g., more Ore Veins have been added throughout Skyline Valley, while some event rewards underwent name changes. A few bug fixes are also part of the package, including one that targets an issue that offered unexpected interaction options for some Hawksbill Weather Station doors. These and other changes introduced in the new patch will reach all players in June 2024, when the Skyline Valley update is scheduled to roll out globally.
