Season 13 for Fallout 76 will be released around the same time as the Once In A Blue Moon update, so they can be considered two sides of the same coin for the time being. The key difference is that the content from the new update will be a permanent addition to Fallout 76, while the Season 13 Scoreboard and rewards will eventually retire. At that point, some of the Scoreboard rewards will live on through various endgame vendors and Atomic Shop reruns, though most of the rewards will be gone for good.

Fallout 76’s Season 13 will release sometime in mid-June and last for around 12 weeks, going off the average from the past few Seasons. While the “Shoot for the Stars” title and the Invaders From Beyond event following soon after both point towards a focus on the aliens from the Fallout games, Season 13 has an entirely unrelated focus. Season 13’s title is in reference to movie stars instead, more specifically featuring cryptid monsters from the folklore of Fallout 76’s version of America.

Season 13 is going to be a good season for players privy to building C.A.M.P.s in Fallout 76, while the Once In A Blue Moon update has a little bit of everything for the rest of the community. As mentioned, the theme for Season 13 will be movie stars, Hollywood theaters, and famous cryptid villains. Fallout 76 will get plenty of furniture and appliances related to movie theater stage settings, like cameras, projectors, red carpets, floodlights, marquee signs, and foldable seats, to name a few.

Notably, the Scoreboard will have a unique shelter, the Sound Stage, for players to expand their C.A.M.P.S. with an additional interior location. Season 13’s scoreboard will have its own C.A.M.P. ally as well. Still, the ally from Fallout 76’s Season 12 that gifts a temporary XP boost will be hard to compete with.

The skins for armor and weapons from Season 13’s scoreboard are highly distinguishable due to their familiar styles and otherwise shiny materials. Most standard armor sets in the game will be getting an American flag makeover, with red and blue accents accompanied by white stars. For Power Armor in Fallout 76, each set will be getting an entirely golden skin, including the unique Power Armor variants. A small handful of weapons will also be getting a golden skin in Season 13. There will also be costumes from various movie genres that players can wear over their standard armor sets.

Going off of what the previous Scoreboards for Fallout 76 have offered, there’s one item that has yet to be revealed leading up to the new Season’s release. While player icons, resources, and currency packages are expected for every Scoreboard by now, some of the recent Scoreboards have been including a featured weapon. The trend seemingly started when Season 10 introduced the Auto-Axe, and the following seasons introduced the Nuka-Launcher, and then the Cold-Shoulder. While it hasn’t been mentioned in any leaks or datamines leading up to the release of Season 13, it’s a safe bet that the new Scoreboard will have its own unique weapon.

Outside the Season 13 Scoreboard, Once In A Blue Moon will be the featured update, so players can expect the new Public Events to occur consistently for a short time. From what Fallout 76’s PTS has shown, the update will also be introducing two new cryptid monsters alongside new quests, a variety of unique weapons, and overhauls of a few existing locations.

The Once In A Blue Moon update will also be removing some of the requirements placed on initiating Expeditions, so players should expect to see a lot more public Expedition teams. Between the new Scoreboard, jumping into the new events and quests, grinding out Expeditions, and the returning seasonal events, there’s going to be plenty to do in Season 13 of Fallout 76.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
