Highlights

  • The Secret Service armor is currently considered the best armor for non-Power Armor users in Fallout 76 due to its high resistances.
  • The upcoming Atlantic City updates will introduce a new endgame armor set called the Muni Armor, which has the best resistance stats of any endgame armor in the game.
  • In addition to its high resistance stats, the Muni Armor also comes with a set bonus and can be crafted at level 60, unlike other endgame armor in the game. This has the potential to greatly impact the game's meta.

While there are plenty of endgame Power Armor sets in Fallout 76 for players to choose from, the options for standard armor are rather limited. The current best armor for players who don’t use Power Armor in Fallout 76 is the Secret Service armor because of its high resistances, although the Atlantic City updates could soon provide some much-needed variety.

The Atlantic City Updates will be adding a new endgame armor set to Fallout 76 called the Muni Armor. Players discovered the Muni armor in the crafting table interface in Fallout 76’s Public Test Server, which consequently revealed the stats of the armor ahead of its release.

Fallout 76’s Muni Armor Is Expected to Be the New Meta

From what players learned in the latest Public Test Server for Fallout 76, the Muni armor will have the best resistance stats of any endgame armor in Fallout 76. This doesn’t account for any mods that can be slotted onto the armor, further increasing the damage resistances or adding unique effects, like carry weight bonuses or a jetpack. As listed in the PTS, the stats for the full set of level 60 Muni armor without mods are:

  • 290 Ballistic Resistance
  • 260 Energy Resistance
  • 260 Radiation Resistance

On top of the insane damage resistance stats on the Muni armor, it also comes with a set bonus. In the PTS, the set bonus is listed as “+5 fire damage when struck.” It’s currently unknown if this set bonus will activate on incoming or outgoing attacks or both. While the set bonus revealed in the PTS seems a little underwhelming, the defensive stats of this armor alone are shaping up to be the new meta regardless of how effective the set bonus is. It’s also worth mentioning that players haven’t had a chance to test this armor yet, so while the initial description for the set bonus seems lackluster, it could prove to be surprisingly powerful.

Besides having high stats and a set bonus, another reason the Muni armor is a big deal is that players can craft it at level 60, whereas the other endgame armor and weapons in Fallout 76 only have a maximum level of 50. The increased maximum level for the Muni armor is part of why the defense stats are so high, but this also has huge implications for players who are at the maximum level in Fallout 76. Hopefully, the Muni armor’s raised level cap will pave the road for other endgame gear in Fallout 76 to also have a level 60 version, which would consequently buff nearly every armor and weapon in the game.

Most of what players already know about the new Muni armor comes from Fallout 76’s Public Test Server, which means that it’s subject to change before it’s released in the live game. Given the unprecedented nature of being able to craft this armor at level 60 though, this feature seems most likely to end up in the full release of the armor. So even though the defensive stats and the set bonus could drastically change between now and whenever players can earn the armor, the increased max level is still a game-changer for Fallout 76’s meta builds.

Leading up to the upcoming Atlantic City updates for Fallout 76, it’s been revealed that the Muni armor isn’t the only armor set that will arrive throughout these updates. There will also be a new Power Armor set for players to earn, but the stats and other details of this armor set are still unknown at the moment. One possibility is that the new Power Armor will be a Power Armor counterpart of the Muni armor, with similarly high stats, a matching set bonus, and a level 60 crafting option. Ultimately though, players who are interested in the new Power Armor or the Muni armor will have to wait until more information is revealed or the Atlantic City Updates are released.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
