  • Fallout 76's meta build showcases the franchise's departure from its roots, offering players a controversial but ultimate power fantasy.

Fallout 76 has an infamous difficulty curve, but players can overcome this curve by utilizing the game’s meta build. This build in Fallout 76 will allow players to deal over double damage with any weapon, while also providing several other benefits that outweigh the investment costs and the tradeoff that players will need to make in order for this build to work.

With a Bloodied Unyielding build in Fallout 76, players can sacrifice some of their maximum health to tap into a power fantasy that few RPGs naturally let players achieve. While this kind of build has become a growing concern among the modern Fallout games, it’s still a guilty pleasure that players can take full advantage of in Fallout 76.

Outside of the investment cost of obtaining a full set of Unyielding legendary armor and Bloodied legendary weapons, the main downside to this build is that players will need to be at or below 20% of their maximum health to receive the full benefits. While this may seem like a steep risk, players can mitigate this tradeoff by investing in a combination of damage resistance and damage reduction sources with their remaining SPECIAL Skill Perk slots.

Between Bloodied Legendary weapons, the Adrenal Reaction Mutation, and the Nerd Rage Perk, players can increase any weapon’s base damage by over double. This is generally enough to make some of the most underwhelming weapons in the game finally worthwhile. Otherwise, it can take weapons that are already meta weapons in Fallout 76 to the next level, some of which can consistently one-shot common enemies at this point.

Aside from a massive damage boost, Fallout 76’s Bloodied Unyielding builds will also increase players’ SPECIAL Skills, which come with multiple benefits. For starters, having high SPECIAL Skills will allow players to pass most, if not all, skill checks in Fallout 76. This can open up unique interactions that affect the outcome of certain questlines or it can give players better rewards for completing quest objectives. Additionally, each SPECIAL Skill in Fallout 76 passively affects some of the player’s other stats, which becomes especially noticeable when players are benefiting from a full Unyielding Legendary armor set.

Fallout 76’s Meta Build Highlights How Far the Franchise Has Strayed From the Original Fallout Games

Only some RPGs let players reach the point of being as powerful as Fallout 76’s meta build without relying on mods or cheats, which makes it surprising that Fallout 76 being an MMO with minor PvP elements lets players achieve this kind of power. This type of ‘skeleton-key’ build has become a trend for the modern Fallout games since the franchise was obtained by Bethesda, although Fallout 76 takes things to a new extreme that has been plenty controversial among Fallout franchise fans. Ultimately, It might be for the best for future Fallout games to return to the franchise’s roots, but in the meantime, players can take advantage of the ultimate power fantasy in Fallout 76.
