Fallout 76: 10 Fastest Ways To Level Up

Players who want to level up fast in Fallout 76 can follow these simple tips to get the job done.

To prevent leveling up from being a long and grueling process, players can use a number of strategies to speed things along. Here are some of the most recommended tips to reach the maximum level in Fallout 76 as efficiently as possible.

Updated May 13, 2024, by Benjamin Joe: Fallout 76 has changed a lot over the past couple of years. From new enemies and weapons to events and questlines, there are lots of new and fun things for players to enjoy. While there are lots of new players making their way around Appalachia, there are also lots of veterans who have been playing the game since its launch.

Thanks to veteran players, it is not uncommon to see players who are over level 1000 roaming the wasteland. And, as time goes on, player levels are only going to get higher and higher. It won't be long until some players will start reaching the maximum level currently available in the game.

What Is The Max Level In Fallout 76?

The Cap And The Max

The first level milestone that players will reach is level 50. At level 50, players can no longer add points to special stats. While they can redistribute their stats, level 50 is the limit for boosting SPECIAL points.

After that first milestone, there are a few other important ones that players will want to work towards. Levels 75, 100, 150, 200, and 300 are all important levels. This is because players will unlock a Legendary Perk slot at each one of those level milestones.

After that, there's not much that happens for players aside from being able to choose more perks and legendary perks. However, players enjoy grinding their way up through the levels to see how high they can go.

As for the maximum possible level players can hit, while there isn't an official cap, there are two conflicting answers. While most say that there is no level cap and players can just keep on increasing their level, there are some talks on various forums about level 32767 being the highest possible level that players can reach.

For players wanting to level up their character as much as possible, there are things that can be done to dramatically boost the amount of XP the player receives.

The Best Ways To Boost Intelligence

More Intelligence Means More XP

The intelligence stat has a direct impact on how much XP players will earn. The higher a player's intelligence level, the more XP they will receive. Players get a little over 2% extra XP for every point in intelligence.

Fallout 76: 10 Best Perks For New Players

Newcomers to Bethesda's Fallout 76 should consider the following excellent beginner perks.

It's important to note that while players can only have a maximum of 15 points in their SPECIAL intelligence stat, the number can actually go a lot higher. By looking at the pip boy and heading to the stats section, players will see their overall SPECIAL points. These points are affected by things like armor, chems, magazines, and more.

One of the best ways to earn extra XP is to wear unyielding armor. The unyielding effect gives players extra points in all SPECIAL stats except for endurance. This effect takes place when the player is at low health, with the maximum amount being a +3 when the player is at 20% health or lower.

Keeping health low is known as a bloodied build. Bloodied builds tend to allow players to do more damage, earn more XP, and have high resistance to various types of damage. Wearing unyielding armor is a great way to boost intelligence and earn lots of extra XP.

There are some good consumables that players can use to increase their intelligence for a limited time. The best one is the leader bobblehead. Leader bobbleheads give players a +1 to their intelligence for one hour. The effects of leader bobbleheads can be doubled with the Curator perk.

There are also some good food and drink items that players can consume to boost their intelligence. They can be seen below:

  • Brain Bombs: +3 Intelligence (AP +300)
  • Broiled Scorchbeast Brain: +3 Intelligence
  • Steeped Aster Tea: +2 Intelligence
  • Scorchbeast Mixed Meat Stew: +1 Intelligence (+1 Luck, Agility, and +1 Endurance)
  • Owlet Nuggets: +1 Intelligence

The effects above can also be doubled if the player has either the herbivore or carnivore mutation. While it may seem obvious, meat-based dishes won't be affected by the herbivore mutation. The same goes for vegetables with the herbivore mutation. If the player is using one of those mutations, then they should also use the perk Strange in numbers to boost the benefit even more.

There are various other things that players can do to boost their intelligence. Most of these stack, so if the player does a little bit of everything on this list, then their intelligence level will be sky-high. Other ways to boost intelligence include:

  • Egg Head Mutation: +6 Intelligence
  • Berry Mentats: +5 Intelligence
  • Herd Mentality: +2 Intelligence
  • Joining A Casual Public Team: Up To +4 Intelligence
  • Night Person Perk: +3 Intelligence At Night

Boosting Experience

Boost Experience With Special Buffs

While the things stated in the previous entry do boost the player's XP gain through intelligence, there are ways to get an outright boost to XP that don't involve a player's overall intelligence.

Sleeping at the start of every login is an easy way to get a 5% experience buff for the gaming session. This boost lasts for 120 minutes. This boost can last 180 minutes if the player sleeps at their CAMP and has an ally. Players can also get this boost from sitting at a community fire pit or a hot tub for around 30 seconds.

Those seeking the greatest XP gains should keep their eyes peeled for all kinds of quests, events, and tougher enemies. Here's where to find them!

Each lunchbox, when utilized, will provide a 25% boost and can be stacked four times for a 100% boost. The effect of lunchboxes lasts 1 hour. When opened, lunchboxes grant an XP boost to all players who are nearby. Quite often, players will open a few just before starting a public event.

With a combination of the Curator perk, the Backwoodsman #6 or the Live, Laugh, and Love #3 perk magazine, the Strange in Numbers perk, and the Herbivore mutation, players can get an 18.75% boost for an hour when they eat a Cranberry Cobbler.

A maxed-out Inspirational perk gives players up to 15% more experience when playing in a group. Completing the Path To Enlightenment event gives players 5% more experience for an hour.

During Graham's Meat Cook, turn in 15 prime meats for a 15-minute 5% experience boost. However, this event only happens a couple of times a year.

A Great Farming Route

Maximize XP By Farming Enemies

Fallout 76 Best Farming Route

Frankly, the best farming route is understood to be the one designed by Angry Turtle. Running this route goes over all the major battle locations and maximizes experience gained per second. If players intend on power leveling, this is the route to follow.

This route can be very useful. But players can also do things like grind expeditions, do daily ops, and take part in events to really maximize the rate at which they earn XP. The same goes for daily quests. Since these can be done every 24 hours, they can be a great and easy way to earn more XP.
