In Fallout 76, players will always be searching for food to cover their basic survival needs. Pre-war food that came from the time before the atom bombs were dropped are some of the best ready-to-eat food items players can find in the Appalachian wasteland. They restore a decent amount of health and hunger, and they aren't as irradiated as many other consumables found in the wild.

Pre-war food comes in many different forms — some of these can even be counted among the best consumables in Fallout 76. If you're looking for places to get any kind of pre-war food, here's a quick guide going over a few good locations.

Fallout 76 America's Playground Armor

If you're just strolling about the wasteland, you'll likely find packs of pre-war food inside the kitchens of houses, diners, restaurants, and any other similar establishment. Check the shelves, cupboards, counter tops, and dining tables for a fair chance of scoring a box or two.

Pre-war food includes any kind of packaged or branded food like BlamCo Mac & Cheese, Cram, Dandy Boy Apples, and InstaMash. If it's packed in a box, it's probably pre-war food. One extra benefit of these consumables is that they do not spoil. They become even more valuable with Thru-Hiker, one of the best perks in Fallout 76 for inventory management. Here are some specific places you can go to if you're looking for pre-war food.

Cobbleton Farm

Cobbleton Farm map location in Fallout 76

This abandoned farmstead can be found on the border between Toxic Valley and the Forest. It's slightly northwest of the Tyler Country Fairgrounds, past Lady Janet's Soft Serve. The shelves in the interior of the farm often have boxes of processed food, like Vegetarian Ham and canned coffee, along with other assortments of canned and boxed food items.

Cobbleton Farm is relatively safe. There will be some basic enemies like Feral Ghouls around the premises, but they're nothing to be alarmed about.

Sunshine Meadows Industrial Farm

Sunshine Meadows in Fallout 76's map

This farm is found in the Forest region, across the river directly west of Flatwoods. Unlike the POI above, Sunshine Meadows is one of the many workshops in Fallout 76 that players may have to contend with. This workshop contains a food packaging factory that will constantly produce food when powered, making it a very sustainable source of meals. However, if a different player has claimed ownership of this workshop, you'll have to either fight them or wait until they leave the server.

To claim Sunshine Meadows, you'll need to finish a short quest that involves clearing the area and claiming the workshop. In the case of a hostile NPC attack, you'll have to defend the farm, or risk losing control over it.
