Burnt Books may not seem like much in Fallout 76, but they're actually valuable in more ways than one. These unassuming junk items are fairly common throughout the Appalachian wasteland, but as the rules of the universe dictate, they will always be hard to spot whenever you need them most.
Luckily, players can find tons of Burnt Books in a convenient location early on in the game. If you ever find yourself looking for books or other junk materials in Fallout 76, here's one spot where you can get plenty of items, including weapons and ammunition from a nearby posse of troublemakers.
Where To Find Burnt Books in Fallout 76
There are plenty of places containing Burnt Books. However, if you're looking to hit the motherload, all you need to do is visit Summersville, a town in the Forest region. It's right along Route 87A, which is far to the southeast of Vault 76. Other landmarks include Camp McClintock to the west and Poseidon Power Substation PX-02 to the north (relative to Summersville). The town is occupied by Blood Eagle bandits — kill them to get a shot at getting some awesome early Fallout 76 guns like Plasma and Laser Rifles.
Once you arrive in the town, you need to go to the last house at the northern end. Go inside, and you'll be greeted by tons of Burnt Books on the shelves, the stairs, and pretty much everywhere. There are over 200 Burnt Books in this house, which should be more than enough to meet the requirements of daily quests and most crafting needs.
How To Reset Loot Containers and Items
The contents of containers like safes and ammo boxes, and the loose loot lying around the wasteland will be reset once players pick up 255 items. As such, players can force loot to respawn by picking up every single book in the Summersville book house described above. Since all you're picking up are Burnt Books, you'll be able to easily keep track of how many items you've picked up. Once you breach the 255 threshold, quit to the main menu, and start the game again.
This method is an excellent method to use when you're farming free supplies from containers all over Appalachia. It's particularly if you don't have enough materials to craft ammo in Fallout 76 — instead of making your own bullets, just loot the ammo boxes outside Vault 76 and the surrounding POIs. If there are less than 255 books in the Summersville house, simply pick up the rest of the trash inside the house.
