Fallout 76 has received many updates over the years. Teams used to be private and players needed to individually invite others to join them on their quests. Now, players can easily join a public team from the main interaction menu of the game.

Those seeking the greatest XP gains should keep their eyes peeled for all kinds of quests, events, and tougher enemies. Here's where to find them!

Teams are an important part of the Fallout 76 experience. Teams can help players complete important quests, help complete the more difficult event missions, and make completing Daily Op missions easier. Now, teams offer a variety of benefits depending on what team players choose to join.

Updated May 31, 2024 by Benjamin Joe: Since this article was published, Fallout 76 has seen a huge rise in player count. This is partly due to recent updates, but it is mainly due to the popularity of the Fallout TV show. Because of this spike in popularity, now is a good time to go through this article and update it with some additional information to help new players understand how each public team works.

New players need to understand the differences between each team type, as some of the teams are supposed to be used for completing things like expeditions and daily operations. Choosing the wrong team can sometimes negatively affect fellow teammates.

It Takes A Few Minutes

Team Menu in Fallout 76

The way that teams work is through a bonding system. Each team can hold up to four players. There are a total of four bonus levels for boosts. The boost levels will kick in after the player has been on a team with another player for a total of five minutes in any given session.

So, if four players join a team at the same time, it will take five minutes for all players on the team to receive the maximum boost. However, if three players join a team at the same time for five minutes, they will all receive a level three boost. But, if a fourth player joins after that, then it will take another five minutes for all players to receive the level four boost.

The casual team is by far the most popular type of team in Fallout 76. That's because intelligence boosts the amount of XP the player earns. Each point in intelligence gives the player just over a 2% increase in all XP earned. So, with a full team, that's a little more than an 8% XP boost.

Also, this team doesn't require the players to do anything as a group. Each player can just go about their business while receiving that nice XP boost. Also, like with all teams, it is free to fast travel to all teammates. This can help to save players a few Caps here and there. Not only that, but it is free to travel to all teammate's CAMPS.

If the player is looking to maximize their XP while on a team, then they should use the max rank of the perk Inspirational. This charisma perk gives the player an additional 15% boost to XP.

Daily Ops Team

2

4

+100% XP For Completing Daily Ops

As the name suggests, this team is for completing daily operations. Daily operations are small timed missions that change every 24 hours. While players can do them as many times as they want, they will only receive one rare reward per day, provided that they complete the mission in under 8 minutes.

Players should only start or join one of these teams if they intend to complete the daily operation. With a fully bonded team, players will get a 100% XP boost for completing daily operations.

As for completing the daily operations, while they aren't the hardest missions to complete, they are certainly much easier when the player has teammates to help out. Especially when the mission is an Uplink mission. Uplink requires players to stand in certain places to boost a signal. The signal can be boosted faster if more players are standing within the area.

Expeditions are very popular among players who enjoy grinding for Stamps, legendary cores, and legendary items. These missions take players out of Appalachia for a short while as they complete a set of missions in either The Pitt or Atlantic City.

For the most part, players choose to go to Atlantic City to complete A Most Sensational game, as it can be done in less than 10 minutes. Expeditions are typically carried out by higher-level players due to their difficulty.

While they aren't that hard to complete, they can be very challenging for new players. But for those who want to take part in an expedition, doing it on an expedition team will award players up to a 100% boost to XP earned upon completing the expedition.

Roleplay Team

A roleplay team gives players a boost to charisma. While charisma is useful for getting better prices when buying and selling things to vendor bots, this team doesn't really offer much more than that. Using the perk Home Bargain will work just as well, if not better, than being on a roleplay team for vendor bot prices.

This type of team is typically used by newer players who aren't yet familiar with how teams work in Fallout 76. For the most part, roleplay teams aren't very useful. Instead of being on a roleplay team, players should opt to be a part of a casual team as the benefits are greater.

Exploration is a better team than a roleplay one, but it's still not as good as a casual team. Having a boost to endurance increases the player's overall health, the likelihood of them picking up any diseases, and a reduction to the AP cost for sprinting. This team can be pretty useful for low-level players who could benefit from having extra health.

That said, the benefits that come from the Lone Wanderer perk are better than those that come with being on an exploration team. At max rank, Lone Wanderer makes the player take 20% less damage and regenerate AP 30% faster.

Events Team

4

+100% XP For Completing Events

Completing events is something players will do multiple times during most play sessions. Whether public events or just regular events, being a part of an event team can net players up to double the amount of XP upon completing events. While this can be a good team to be a part of, unless the player is only focusing on events, then it's probably more beneficial to be on a casual team.

That said, when it comes to seasonal events like Meat Week and Fasnacht, joining an events team can be a very good way of earning some additional XP.
