Without Copper, crafting electronics is impossible. It is definitely one of the vital resources in Fallout 76 that’s also quite scarce—especially for beginner players lacking mining tools. But despite its shortage, Copper is still a farm-friendly item that can be gathered through three different methods: mining, scrapping, and extracting.

Read this guide to learn all these techniques and farm Copper like a veteran Fallout 76 survivor.

How to Farm Copper in Fallout 76

To farm Copper, mine veins, build extractors over Copper deposits, or tear apart junk items. The first two methods, mining and extracting, deliver Cu Ore, which must be smelted into scrap on a Chemistry Workbench. But the third farming technique, scrapping, gives useable Copper pieces.

1. Mine Copper Veins

A Copper vein is a mineral resource on a rocky outcropping, cave, or mine. To farm Copper, locate these veins and mine them on a regular basis. The best locations for Copper vein extraction are Solomon's Pond, the outcrops near The Whitespring Station and Bunker, and the rocky areas near Abandoned Mine Shaft 2.

2. Extract Copper from Items

Scrap junk on a workbench to get Copper pieces. The best items for this farming method are High-Powered Magnet, Pre-War Lamp, and Trumpet, each giving 3 Copper pieces. But other lucrative junks are Ornamental Vases, Brass Miners Lamps, Power Relay Coils, and Sensor Modules.

3. Build a Copper CAMP on a Deposit

The best way to farm Copper in Fallout 76 is by placing a resource extractor on top of a Copper deposit in a workshop. Dabney Homestead is the ideal location for that because it supports up to 3 extractors, each producing 20 Copper Ore per hour.

Copper extractors have a maximum capacity of 10 Ores per unit, meaning they must be emptied every 30 minutes. Otherwise, they won’t fulfill the 20-Ore-per-hour goal.

How to Multiply Copper Farm Results

Wearing the Excavator Power Armor is one way to increase the Copper farming outcome. The suit quadruples the extracted minerals, turning each mined Ore into four. Another way is by equipping the Super Duper perk, which increases the chance of getting double Copper by 30%.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
