The important thing to note about sharing perks in Fallout 76 is that ranks never stack. Instead, the perk with the highest rank available will always take effect. Some perks in Fallout 76 only have 1 rank, so these perks as well as perks that have additional ranks available to upgrade will never benefit from receiving lower ranks or duplicates.

Another important factor when sharing perks is to consider what other players can benefit from that isn’t already in their builds. For example, most players eventually transition into using mutations in Fallout 76. Some perks are must-haves for certain builds, so sharing these on Public Teams can be redundant. Regardless, sharing perks that have relatively universal benefits is the safest bet.

Universal Perks to Share with Public Teams in Fallout 76

For Strength perks to share, the most universal perks are Traveling Pharmacy and Strong Back. Even if it’s just Stimpaks to heal with, most players end up regularly carrying chems, so Traveling Pharmacy might call for a high rank to share effectively. Unlike other perks that affect the carry weight of particular items, Strong Back is the most universal as it adds to overall carrying capacity instead of modifying any particular gear or resource weights.

The best Perception perks to share would be Grenadier and Refractor. Grenadier increases the size of explosions up to 200%, and it applies to the Explosive legendary weapon effect in Fallout 76 as well as grenades. Refractor gives players increased energy resistance, and unlike most damage resistance buffs, it works for players wearing Power Armor.

Most of the Endurance perks are all or nothing when it comes to food, drink, or chem buffs, so these are best to skip when sharing perks. Since maintaining hunger and thirst in Fallout 76 isn’t fatal, a portion of the community simply doesn’t bother with it. If anything, the Cannibal perk allows players to consume defeated human enemies for food and more importantly some health, though it doesn’t work for players wearing Power Armor in Fallout 76.

Charisma has many mutually beneficial perks to pass around, mainly Bodyguards, Inspirational, and Tenderizer. Bodyguards is one of the few damage resistance buffs that apply to both standard and Power Armor. As far as Casual Public Teams go, most players are there to earn the passive xp boost, which makes Inspirational easily attract a full team size. Tenderizer is great because it’s 1 of the 2 universal damage buffs in Fallout 76.

For Intelligence perks to share, the best are Scrapper and Demolitions Expert. Oftentimes max-level players in Fallout 76 will remove Scrapper in place of optimizing their damage and resistances, so it’s always a generous gift. Demolitions Expert is a good universal perk because it increases explosion damage from any source, and even melee builds can produce explosions with the right setup.

Agility falls in the same trappings as the Endurance perks, where it’s essentially all or nothing, except for Born Survivor and Adrenaline, and neither of these perks needs a high rank to activate. For players who aren’t using sneak builds, pistols, or VATS in Fallout 76, there are not many universal perks here. Even at rank 1, Born Survivor heals players at certain health thresholds. Adrenaline is a kill skill that progressively increases a player’s damage.

Luck can be one of the hardest perk categories to share because there are a lot of universal and powerful perks here, so it would likely take high ranks to effectively share these perks. The best Luck perks for sharing are Bloody Mess, Luck of the Draw, Lucky Break, and Mysterious Savior. Bloody Mess is a flat, universal damage buff. Luck of the Draw and Lucky Break will occasionally repair equipped armor and weapons. Mysterious Savior has a chance to revive players who die, which is a great backup plan.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
