In Fallout 76, Aluminum is one of the base resources for crafting. It comes in three different forms, Scrap, Ore, and Bulk, which are used in building Power Armors, repairing tools, assembling weapons, and more. But despite being an essential item, Aluminum is hard to get, and most beginner Fallout 76 players don’t even know how to farm it. Not to worry, though; this guide explains the best ways of gathering Aluminum with basic steps and introduces the best farming locations.

Best Locations for Aluminum Farming

Out of all mines and workshops in Fallout 76, the best places for Aluminum farming are Harpers Ferry, Pleasant Valley Ski Resort (Top of the World), and Abandoned Mine Shaft 1. These are mostly threat-free areas with lucrative Aluminum loots that respawn after sever-hopping.

Harpers Ferry

Located in the southeastern part of Appalachia, Harpers Ferry is a nice spot for farming Aluminum. What makes this location rewarding is its multiple Coolant Caps that together give the player over 40 scraps in each run. Plus, there are few to no high-level enemies around this area to bother the farming players.

Pleasant Valley Ski Resort

Found near the Top of the World structure, the Pleasant Valley Ski Resort is a good Aluminum farming location because it’s filled with Ski Poles. Each of these can be scrapped down to 2 Aluminum, giving the player 50+ scraps in total.

The player is also advised to loot the Top of the World building as it has lots of Aluminum-containing junk materials like Ski Swords as well as Wood Scraps .

Abandoned Mine Shaft 1

Containing some of the largest Aluminum Veins, the Abandoned Mine Shaft 1 is in the southwestern part of Appalachia. To farm Aluminum from this zone, the player must excavate the veins with mineral extractors.

Wearing the Excavator Power Armor quadruples the amount of extracted Aluminum in this location.

Best Junk Material Containing Aluminum

Fallout 76 Junk

Since Aluminum in its pure form is a rare substance in Fallout 76, the best way to farm it is by scrapping junk materials that contain processed Aluminum. The best items for that are:

  • Cake Pans
  • Alarm Clocks
  • Aluminum Trays
  • Blasting Caps Boxes
  • Carlisle Typewriter

How to Farm Aluminum Ore

To get Aluminum Ore, the player will need to place a Mineral Extractor on the deposits in the following workshops:

  • Berkeley Springs West
  • Charleston landfill
  • Converted munitions factory
  • Red Rocket Mega Stop
  • Poseidon Energy Plant yard
  • Tyler County Dirt Track
  • Sunshine Meadows industrial farm

Some of these workshops also contain Copper Deposits and Veins , which are crucial for Copper farming.

Other Ways to Collect Extra Aluminum

Fallout 4 Protectron

An alternative way of collecting Aluminum scrap is by defeating Protectrons. These robots often drop Scraps of Aluminum upon dying, making them a lucrative source of this material. It’s also possible to hunt Wind Chimes (by tracking their noise) and scrapping them down into Aluminum Scraps.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
