Since its launch back in 2018, Fallout 76 has been plagued by glitches, griefers, and inconvenient mechanics that have been turning players away from the beloved franchise. However, for the players that have been able to look past the issues, they will soon be rewarded by the upcoming Wastelanders update that plans to bring NPCs to the game, along with a number of new features that should improve player experiences.

One feature, recently highlighted in Bethesda's recent 'Inside the Vault' blog post, shows a number of new features coming to Fallout 76, including a quality-of-life update that some players feel should have been in the game at launch. This update was also announced on Twitter, as Bethesda becomes more transparent on how the game will move forward.  This includes attempting to appease player wants and straying away from features like PvP that players seemingly have little interest in.

The latest announced improvement coming with the Wastelander's update involves the way that players will be able to interact with the loot that they find lying around the world. This will let players bypass menus by allowing them to hold the pick up button and immediately use the items that they find, as long as they aren't in containers. What the update amounts to is letting players instantly add new weapons to the favorites menu and quickly equip them, as well as eating food items and chems directly off the ground, without having to dig through a menu to us their new items.

It's Bethesda's hope that by implementing this improvement, it will reduce the downtime that most players spend rifling through menus trying to use items as they find them. The update is also meant to make it easier for players to experiment with new weapons, as opposed to picking them up and letting them rot in their inventory as players forget about them soon after picking up the new gear. All of this, as well as more updates to come, will be arriving with the long-awaited inclusion of NPCs into Fallout 76 with the upcoming Wastelander update.

Players have been reacting fairly positively to this news, with some who even had left the game early in its lifecycle returning to see how the update will improve the game. However, that doesn't mean that all players are completely pleased with these updates, as some feel like they should have been in the game since launch. That being said, it is up to each player on their own to see if Fallout 76 is worth returning to, although with how extensive Wastelanders seems to be, there is plenty for current players to be excited for.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
