Fallout 4 has a large open world just like other Bethesda games. The Commonwealth contains many secrets that aren't even marked on the map. It's up to you to explore and seek out these hidden treasures.
The Vitale Pumphouse is an unmarked location you may stumble onto in your travels. It contains a puzzle that can be a bit confusing. Solving the puzzle rewards you with The Gainer. It's a unique .44 Magnum that has the incendiary legendary effect. The effect adds 15 points of burning damage to any enemies you hit with it. This guide will show you where to find this hidden area and how to solve the puzzle in Fallout 4.
Fallout 4: Where to Find Freefall Legs
Freefall Legs are a unique combat armor set in Fallout 4 that consist of only two parts and have an acrobat's legendary effect. Here's how to get it.
Pumphouse Location
The Vitale Pumphouse can be found in the northeastern section of the map. It's directly to the south of Hub City Auto Wreckers and to the east of Finch Farm. The Hub City Auto Wreckers is a Gunner base. They are equipped with power armor and a Fat Man so be prepared for a difficult fight. Find the stairs at the bottom of the area leading down by the water to find the pumphouse. If you want to avoid a fight by traveling to Finch Farm, you can see the blue door when looking to the east across the water. Follow the coast around or swim through the irradiated water.
There is nothing on the top floor of the small building. So walk around to the right and use the next door to load into the pumphouse.
Pumphouse Clue
The actual pumphouse is a small set of rooms with a locked door. Don't fire any weapons as there is gasoline covering the area that can ignite. A machine with four red buttons is next to the locked door. Turn around from the door to see numbers scrawled on the wall. The numbers are 0451. This is your only clue to the machine and the nearby locked door.
Pumphouse Solution
Clicking the red buttons will add a number to the display above them. Each button press adds one to the number shown. The solution to the puzzle is actually 10 4 5 1. The trick is the fact that there is no way to make a zero on the machine. Enter the code correctly and the door will unlock.
There is a fusion core and a steamer trunk for you to loot. The Gainer can be found at the feet of the red skeleton on the floor.
