A Fallout 4 has shared a bizarre bug that appears to allow them to speak to dogs in the game. While Fallout 4 has its share of hilarious interactions by design, this one doesn't seem to be an intentional choice from Bethesda.

For years, Bethesda games have become known for their abundance of glitches among the community. Fallout 4 is no exception, and is arguably one of the studio's buggiest titles to date. This isn't always a bad thing, though. While some bugs are game-breaking, they're generally patched out quickly after being discovered. Nowadays, most of the bugs found in the game add some level of humor to the experience, such as the Fallout 4 bug that saw NPCs swimming in the streets. These types of glitches are usually harmless, and can actually make a playthrough more memorable for a player.

Fallout 4 Players Report Bizarre Issue With Vehicles

Many Fallout 4 players report a bizarre issue with the plethora of vehicles that clutter the post-apocalyptic Boston Commonwealth.

Redditor ItsYaBoi1232 shared the image online, which shows a Junkyard Dog speaking to the player in their settlement, claiming, "I hope you realize how much you did for us." It isn't clear whether the bug caused a voiced line of dialogue to play, which would only add to the confusion. The cause of the bug isn't clear, although one player pointed out that the user was using the Sim Settlements mod for Fallout 4. One possible theory is that this particular mod is causing an issue with settlers and their intended dialogue, resulting in a talking dog.

The Fallout series has its share of amazing non-human characters, but talking dogs is, as of yet, uncharted territory. Given the series' history with the weird and wonderful, it wouldn't be totally out of place. Players can purchase the Junkyard Dog from a character named Gene around the Commonwealth, although those wanting to purchase it shouldn't expect a similar experience to ItsYaBoi1232.

2024 promises to be a good year for the Fallout series. It seems as though players will finally be getting their hands on the next-generation version of Fallout 4, after it initially missed its late-2023 release window without notice. On top of this, the Fallout TV series is set to premiere in April, bringing the franchise to the small screen for the first time ever. While every video game adaptation comes with its own set of skeptics, the initial trailer suggests a series that will be faithful to the themes and atmosphere of the games. Meanwhile, more expansions are planned for Fallout 76 this year, too. Fallout 5 is some time away yet, but there's still plenty to be excited about for fans of the series.
