A Fallout 4 player created an entire Dollar General store in the Commonwealth with vendors that cater to the needs of the protagonist and other nearby inhabitants. The store was built within the new PlayStation 5 version of Fallout 4, which recently received a second next-gen update to fix lingering issues from launch.

The next-gen update for Fallout 4 was initially revealed in 2022 and scheduled for a release in 2023, but a delay would push the update to 2024. After many months of speculation, Bethesda confirmed that the next-gen update would finally arrive on April 25 with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S performance and quality modes. The update also brought free Creation Club content, new armor and weapon bundles, and bug fixes for Fallout 4. However, the update was met with mixed reception from fans due to several bugs and technical issues, including a lack of support for ultrawide resolutions and glitches involving Fallout's signature VATS feature. As a result, Bethesda released a second next-gen update on May 13 to remedy many of the issues introduced in the prior update.

Reddit user Admirable_Truck4749 recently built a Dollar General store in Fallout 4 for PS5 and shared multiple screenshots of their creation for the Fallout community to see. The Commonwealth-style Dollar General store includes various vendors for goods and services, such as weapons, gear, and general goods. Like a real-life Dollar General store, various aisles may be browsed, but Admirable_Truck4749 did not place any goods to be sold just yet. A Mister Gutsy may be seen patrolling the Dollar General store as well, acting as another employee who can help customers out.

Many users jokingly want more Dollar General stores to be built in the Commonwealth, as it could bring some convenience to inhabitants like the Minutemen. Other users would like to see a Waffle House built in Fallout 4 next since the Dollar General store shares a similar aesthetic. Thankfully, mods in Fallout 4 can help make custom creations like a Waffle House possible in the game.
