A new Fallout 4 mod allows players to explore the whole Fallout New Vegas map, as long as the gamer has both titles installed on their PCs. Fallout 4 has several excellent mods, and this one will likely please long-time fans of the franchise who loved Obsidian Entertainment’s take on this setting.

Released back in 2011, Fallout New Vegas is considered by many to be one of the best Fallout games ever made. The fame is due to the game’s amazing Western-inspired setting and complex narrative, with storylines and faction play that is often considered more nuanced than in Bethesda’s games.

Now, players may be able to live a bit of the Fallout New Vegas experience with a new mod called FNV to FO4, which was created by a modder called bololo11. The new mod makes the whole map from the original Fallout New Vegas campaign playable with Fallout 4’s gameplay mechanics, but it comes with a few limitations. For instance, gamers will be able to visit the full map, but NPCs, creatures, quests, scripts, weapons, and armor won’t be available at the moment. So, essentially, players will be able to explore a deserted version of New Vegas, but there isn’t much to do there yet. To download the mod, which can be found at Nexus Mods, gamers will need to have bought both games and have them installed. Also, the project may struggle to be compatible with other mods, so gamers should uninstall them before trying out this one.

It’s important not to confuse FNV to FO4 with the Fallout 4: New Vegas mod. This other project, which was originally announced back in 2017, intends to work as a total conversion project that will recreate the entirety of New Vegas, including the quests and NPCs, to the Fallout 4 engine and is unfortunately not finished right now.

FNV to FO4 and the Fallout 4: New Vegas mod are some of the most ambitious projects the Fallout 4 community has devised so far, but they are not the only attempts to recreate Bethesda’s latest Fallout as a new experience. At the moment, one of the most high-profile total conversion mods for the game is Fallout Miami, which is still under development. The project intends to feel as close as possible to an official Fallout DLC, and it’s recreating a post-nuclear version of Miami. According to the creators, the project will have its own storyline and this version of Miami will be around the size of something like the Far Harbor DLC, including different biomes such as industrial regions, residential areas, and post-apocalyptic beaches.

Fallout 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
