Highlights

  • Fallout 4 players are rediscovering the game, either out of nostalgia or to explore a wider range of mods.
  • The discovery of their own dead body in Fallout 4 by a player adds a chilling element to the game's storyline and lore.
  • Likely a feature added by Integrated Commonwealth mod, it may be a nod to a popular fan theory that the main player is actual a synth intended to take over the Commonwealth.

During a session of wandering the Commonwealth, a Fallout 4 player shockingly discovers their own corpse in the Lexington Pharmacy. While Starfield is currently the most modern Bethesda title, many new fans have slowly been giving the older games a try, such as Skyrim or Fallout 4. Conversely, having completed their regular or New Game Plus playthrough in Starfield, a lot of veteran players have also made their way back to Tamriel or the Commonwealth, either to sate their nostalgia or simply due to the bigger variety of mods to choose from.

When it launched in 2015, Fallout 4 was seen as a step backwards when it came to roleplaying features compared to its predecessor. The dialogue system was criticized for being overly simplistic and inconsequential, and some even found the railroaded premise of its main quest a bit too restrictive. However, factions, gunplay, and settlements in Fallout 4 were considered a highlight of the game, as it delivered an immersive handcrafted experience of exploring the irradiated wilderness of the Commonwealth.

Bethesda Has Bad News for Fallout 4 Fans

Unfortunately, Bethesda shares some bad news for fans of the company's acclaimed open world RPG Fallout 4.

However, a player named notmiawallace had a rather bizarre experience in Fallout 4, when they ran into a body of their own character while exploring the Lexington Pharmacy. Given the major role of synths in the game's narrative and setting, the discovery is a rather chilling experience. It should be important to know that this is one of the features added by Integrated Commonwealth, a Fallout 4 mod that attempts to seamlessly implement DLC content into the base game.

A popular Fallout 4 theory that circulated in its community at launch was that the Sole Survivor was a synth themselves, planted by the Institute to infiltrate and take control of the Commonwealth. While the main story in Fallout 4 never outright confirmed the theory, it did nonetheless end up as an Easter Egg in the Integrated Commonwealth mod.

As Bethesda fans await the release of Shattered Space for Starfield, revisiting Fallout 4 or Skyrim is a worthwhile way to pass the time. Both titles have aged remarkably well over the years, and it could be argued that they represent Bethesda at its peak when it comes to exploration and player immersion. While Fallout 5 is quite a long way off, fans have a live-action Fallout show to look forward to, developed by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan. It will release its first episode on Amazon Prime Video on April 12, 2024.
