Fallout 4 has received a next-gen update on consoles and PC. This update has added a few new quests and performance modes for high framerate gameplay. Fans are also returning to the Commonwealth after the release of the highly popular Fallout TV show. There is even a Fallout-themed event coming to Fortnite in the near future.

You create your character at the beginning of a Fallout 4 playthrough. You can change your appearance in exchange for some caps in Diamond City if you are unhappy with it. The Vault-Tec Workshop DLC added several new objects that you can build in your settlements. This includes Barber and Surgery chairs. Building these in settlements allows you to change the vault dweller's appearance at your convenience free of charge. Here is how you can build these useful objects in Fallout 4.

10 Most Powerful Weapons In Fallout 4

Fallout 4 has a ton of weapons that players can use to deal out punishment in The Commonwealth, but these ten are the strongest.

Building in Settlements

You need to meet Preston Garvey in Concord to gain the ability to build settlements. The first area in Sanctuary will be open for building immediately. You will have to help other locations to take them under Minutemen protection and build there. Once a settlement is yours, you can walk up to the red workshop table to build. You can also hold the Xbox left menu button/ PlayStation touchpad/V key to open up your build menu.

How to Build Barber & Surgery Chairs

Cycle through to the Resources part of the build menu. From there, cycle all the way to the right to open the Miscellaneous section. The Barber and Surgery chairs can be found there. You will need some junk resources to build them.

Barber Chair

  • x2 Aluminum
  • x3 Cloth
  • x2 Steel
  • x4 Wood

Surgery Chair

  • x6 Aluminum
  • x4 Antiseptic
  • x3 Cloth
  • x3 Wood

Look for Abraxo Cleaner if you're struggling to find antiseptic. Trashcan Carla is a trader who regularly visits Sanctuary. She is a good resource for most of your junk needs.

Assigning Settlersfallout-4-settler

After you've built a chair you need to assign a settler to it. Open your workshop menu and click on a settler to command them.

Then click on the chair, and you should see the message that the resource has been assigned. This can be buggy, so try and find a settler very close to the chair. If the chosen settler has a clipboard in their hand, that means they've been assigned. Walk up to the settler and ask for a haircut/plastic surgery to alter your looks for free.
