When Bethesda began to tease an upcoming game set in its popular post-apocalyptic RPG universe, fan theories ran wild, with everything from a Fallout 3 Remaster and Fallout Battle Royale to Fallout5, and Fallout: New Vegas 2 being described as contenders. While some of these were a bit of fun, a remaster of the third entry in the series was a highly-desired title, so some may have been a bit let down when Fallout 76 was announced.

However, fans of the Fallout 3 Remaster theory may have still have reason to hope. Redditor SoMeh accurately predicted Fallout 76, which gives the user a solid amount of credibility; otherwise, his claim wouldn't have much to go on. SoMeh, in the comments of his Fallout 76 prediction, was asked if a Fallout 3 Remaster would be at E3, to which the user replied with a cryptic, "it is."

It's worth mentioning that, at some point after, SoMeh deleted the comment, making the reveal a little more shaky. Still, when asked if it would be a simple port or was remade on Fallout 4's engine, SoMeh stated that they couldn't go into further detail (screenshot below). Moreover, on another thread of a leaked E3 listing, SoMeh validated the listing, which contained Fallout 3 Anniversary (screenshot also below):

Needless to say, until this is confirmed at E3 or by Bethesda, it should be taken with a healthy grain of salt, but this news should still give the Fallout fans wanting a Fallout 3 Remaster another reason to look forward to E3 2018. Sadly, for those who were holding out for Fallout: New Vegas 2, it doesn't seem likely to be happening, as Obsidian wasn't involved with the Fallout tease.

Until there is solid confirmation, some fans may also prefer to keep their attention on Fallout 76, which is also rumored to be an online multiplayer Rust Clone. Today may have very well been a big day for the Fallout franchise, but hopefully, more solid details will become available soon.

Fallout 3 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. A remastered edition is rumored to be in development.
