  • Despite some concerns and criticisms, Fall Guys remains a popular live service game with a dedicated fanbase eagerly awaiting new character skins and content.

The next Fall Guys crossover event is almost upon us, and this time the classic chosen franchise is none other than Pac-Man. Not as out of left-field as some other recent collaborations, but it's certainly a welcome addition to the fold.

Fall Guys first dropped in 2020 as a much-needed source of reprieve from the lockdowns and uncertainty that plagued that year. Epic Games has continued releasing season after season of post-launch DLC to keep the ball rolling, with this upcoming drop being released as part of the digital-themed Season 10. Amidst all that content, many crossovers have also been released, usually involving movies, TV shows, and other video games, most of which also have cartoony or fanciful aesthetics much like Fall Guys itself.

As announced by the official Fall Guys Twitter account, the next collaboration will center around Bandai Namco's classic IP, Pac-Man. It's right up there with Sonic the Hedgehog as one of the oldest franchises that have crossed over with this game. In the attached photo, two character skins are shown, one being Pac-Man himself, sporting his classic design, and the other is modeled after Inky, the blue member of the Ghost Gang. A crystalline collectible will also be added in this pack, modeled after the franchise's iconic cherries. The new content is set to launch on July 27, 2023.

Fan reception in the comments appears quite mixed, with some being shocked and/or excited about the collaboration or even calling it the first good one in a while, while others expressed their disillusionment with Fall Guys. Others made requests for other IPs such as Mario, a fellow long-term franchise that would make a perfect Switch-exclusive Fall Guys skin.

Despite Fall Guys' slowly worsening reception and concerns from some players, the game has cemented itself as just one in a series of viral live service games from recent years, built mostly around online multiplayer, character customization, and an endless stream of downloadable content. It's always interesting to look forward to whichever new character skins (collaborative or otherwise) are due out next, and there's no doubt many fans feel the same way. Only time will tell what Epic Games is planning to throw at the public next.

Fall Guys is available to play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
