10 Deep Insanity: The Lost Child

Deep Insanity is a Square Enix property, with an overarching plot that unfolds throughout various media. The manga began serialization in January, with a game on alongside the upcoming anime. The world in which the series takes place is plagued by a disease known as “Randolph Syndrome”.

The illness originates from a mysterious location in the South Pole called Asylum, which prompts people to search it in hopes of discovering a cure. The anime is set to take place between the manga and game’s storylines, so fans of the series have plenty of other material to explore once it finishes airing.

9 Ranking of Kings

Based on the manga by Sosuke Toka, Ranking of Kings is an endearing coming-of-age story centered around a young deaf prince named Bojji. Bojji’s handicap causes the kingdom’s citizens to overlook him, showing little faith in their future ruler.

Things start to change when the weak young prince crosses paths with a shadow named Kage. The series follows Bojji and Kage as the former grows and overcomes the various obstacles in his life.

8 AMAIM: Warrior at the Borderline

Every new season brings some more Mecha anime to the table. This upcoming season offers fans of the genre some interesting choices, with Bandai’s AMAIM: Warrior at the Borderline looking like one to keep an eye on.

The series takes place in the year 2061 AD. Japan, having lost its sovereignty is now ruled by four trade factions. When Amou Shiiba comes across an AI named Gai, Amou decides to fight for the country’s liberation by piloting a humanoid mech known as AMAIM.

7 Visual Prison

While most anime tend to be adaptations of manga, light novels or games, every season introduces a few original projects. Noriyasu Agematsu’s Visual Prison is an interesting mix of supernatural with some musical elements.

Unable to fit in and isolated from his peers, Ange Yuki leaves his hometown and heads to Tokyo in order to see his favorite artist perform. While there, he encounters two visual kei groups whose performances change his life forever.

6 Megaton Musashi

Yet another cross-media project, Megaton Musashi will certainly appeal to mech and actions fans. The series has an accompanying game that is set to come out on November 11th in Japan, with no word on any intentions to localize the project.

Megaton Musashi takes place following an alien invasion that decimated humanity. With over 90 percent of the Earth’s population gone, survivors are herded into a shelter where their memories are erased and various aspects of their lives are monitored. Three teenagers are chosen to pilot a mech called Musashi and fight off the alien invaders.

5 Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside

Longwinded titles have been a popular trope in the light novel industry for a while now, and with every new adaptation, the trend seems to be trickling into the anime world. Zappon’s light novel series tells its readers nearly all they need to know in its title alone.

Once a member of a party of powerful adventurers, Red sets his sights on opening a pharmacy after he’s kicked out of the group. But when an adventurer from his past shows up, Red finds it harder to move on with his new life.

The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another Worldas an Aristocrat hasn’t been around for long, but has done pretty well in the few years since it first started serialization. The series started off as a novel, then light novel, manga, and now finally is set to have an anime adaptation air sometime in October.

The series follows a protagonist who has been reincarnated into another world following his sudden death. Having lived his life as a great assassin in the real world, the protagonist is disposed of when his use comes to an end. Reborn as an aristocrat, the protagonist, Lugh, must once again fall into old habits. When a goddess claims that the world’s hero will bring it to ruin instead of salvation, Lugh puts his world-class skills to use.

2 Mieruko-chan

Of all the shows set to air this coming Fall, Mieruko-chan stands as one of the most intriguing. Based on the popular manga, the series mixes horror with lighthearted comedy in a way that will appeal to slice of life and horror fans alike.

Miko’s daily life is disrupted when she suddenly gains the ability to see a variety of terrifying ghosts and monsters around her. She tries to act as though things are normal and often has to endure some horrifying sights as a result. With her life now turned upside-down, Miko hopes to continue on with her normal life by ignoring the spirits that haunt her.

1 Muv-Luv Alternative

The Muv-Luv franchise might not be as well known to newcomers as it is to veterans, but the adaptation of Alternative is something anime fans have been waiting for for years. First released as a visual novel in 2003, Muv-Luv became one of the most popular properties of the mid-2000s.

Alternative is the third and final game in the trilogy, serving as the narrative’s epic climax. It initially received a manga adaptation in 2007 that ran for 17 volumes over the course of a decade. This might be an intimidating franchise to get into for newcomers, and will likely require some knowledge of the first two games in order to fully appreciate.
