The Fall 2021 season is right around the corner, bringing with it a variety of new titles for anime fans to enjoy. This past year has had plenty of great anime air and the trend looks like it’ll continue to finish the year off strong.

This upcoming season will have a fairly high number of sequels fans can indulge in. With quite a few shows continuing on from the Summer season and beyond, the Fall 2021 line-up is going to be packed with some of the most popular titles in recent memory. Here’s every sequel coming this Fall.

11 Let's Make a Mug Too: Second Kiln

Let’s Make A Mug takes a fairly niche concept and spices it up with endearing characters and slice-of-life shenanigans. The series focuses on Himeno, who moves back to her mother’s hometown years after her death. Himeno’s mother was a prominent figure in the world of pottery, and with the help of her friends, Himeno grows to appreciate her mother’s talents while discovering her own passion for pottery.

The first season aired during the Spring 2021 season and was well received by viewers. Nippon Animation quickly got to work on a second season, which will continue on with Himeno’s journey of self-discovery alongside her friends.

10 World Trigger 3rd Season

World Trigger takes place in a world where the Earth is under constant attack from interdimensional monsters known as Neighbors. Protagonist Osamu Mikumo is a member of Border, a group tasked with fighting off Neighbors and protecting the earth. Things take a turn when Osamu meets a humanoid Neighbor named Yuma, causing him to question the conflict.

The manga was first serialized in 2013, with the anime adaptation following a year after. World Trigger’s first season ran for two years and 73 episodes. After a five-year hiatus, the series returned with a brief second season as part of the Winter 2021 line-up. Season 3 is set to air soon, though there has been no indication of how many episodes will air yet.

9 Restaurant to Another World 2

The Isekai genre is one of the most popular out there, with every season welcoming more and more new titles. The standard Isekai tropes have all been done to death, though some shows have managed to add in their own unique twists.

Restaurant to Another World first aired back in 2017 and is based on the manga series by Junpei Inuzuka. The show focuses on a Tokyo based restaurant called Nekoya. Though it seems like a normal eatery, the restaurant welcomes a variety of clientele from another world once a week. The series examines the various characters and personalities that frequent the restaurant.

Cardfight!! Vanguard is a multimedia franchise that has spawned various anime adaptations, manga, films and a trading card game. The newest series, overDress, first aired during the Spring 2021 season and is set to come back this Fall.

The series follows protagonist Yu-yu, an empathetic boy who has a hard time declining others’ requests. After meeting a new group of friends, Yu-yu is drawn to Vanguard and has various adventures and experiences revolving around the game.

7 Yuki Yuna is a Hero: The Great Mankai Chapter

The Yuki Yuna is a Hero franchise has expanded considerably since first airing in 2014. Various games and print adaptations have been made, though the series’ most prominent outlet still seems to be anime.

The Great Mankai Chapter comes after the Spring 2021 seasons’ Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de Aru Churutto; a more lighthearted take on the series. The Great Mankai Chapter will continue the main series’ narrative, providing fans with a darker, somber experience.

6 Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2

Yet another Isekai anime, Mushoku Tensei turned out to be one of the most talked-about series of the Winter 2021 season. The show follows a man who is reborn into a new world as a baby named Rudeus, starting life over in a new fantastical setting.

Season 2 will continue Rudeus’ adventures from where the first season left off, serving as the series’ second cour. With 25 volumes of the light novel to cover, fans can expect the series to continue on for a good while if it remains as successful as it’s been so far.

5 86 EIGHTY-SIX Part 2

86 -Eighty Six- is yet another of 2021’s more popular series that received a quick sequel following a successful first season. Based on the light novel series by Asato Asato, the series has received various manga adaptations to go along with the highly successful anime.

86 -Eighty Six- focuses on the nine-year conflict between the Republic of San Magnolia and Empire of Giad. San Magnolia’s eighty-sixth division is tasked with fighting off the Empire’s autonomous soldiers, enduring heavy casualties in the process. When soldiers Vladilena Milizé and Shinei Nouzen cross paths, they are set upon ending the conflict for good.

4 Lupin the 3rd: Part 6

Monkey Punch’s Lupin the Third is one of the biggest anime franchises around, having spawned a variety of anime, manga, and film adaptations to go along with games, specials, and OVAs. The series is still going strong, with a sixths season on the way.

Season 6 will have Lupin go up against Sherlock Holmes following the death of Holmes’ closest friend; Dr. Watson. As Lupin tries to clear his name, he also goes on the search for a treasure belonging to a mysterious organization known as “The Raven”.

3 Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon - The Second Act

Inuyasha was one of the most popular anime of its generation and served as an introduction to the medium for many fans. Inuyasha and Kagome’s adventures ran for 56 volumes and spawned two anime series and various feature films.

Decades later, the series returned with Yashahime. The sequel series follows Sesshomaru and Rin's daughters Towa and Setsuna as they journey to recover the latter’s memories alongside their cousin, Moroha. Unlike its predecessor, Yashahime is an anime exclusive though it is set to have its own manga adaptation.

2 Date A Live IV

Based on the light novel series by Koshi Tachibana, Date A Live mixes harem elements with science fiction. The series follows Shido Itsuka, who is tasked with sealing away magical entities known as Spirits. Shido’s efforts are boiled down to dating sim-esque scenarios. With the help of his younger sister and the government organization Ratatoskr, Shido tries to win the affections of various super-powered girls.

The first season aired all the way back in 2013, and the show has had a sporadic production schedule since. There was a five-year gap between seasons two and three, and with the announcement of season four, it seems as though the light novel series will be one of the few adaptations to be fully animated.

1 Hanma Baki: Son of Ogre

The Baki The Grappler franchise has been around for decades. The manga was first published back in 1991 and is still going, with 142 total volumes to its name. Various games and anime have spawned from the popular martial arts series, with TMS’ Baki serving as the latest entry.

The upcoming Son of Ogre is set for twelve episodes, considerably shorter than its predecessor’s 39 episode run. The anime will adapt the manga’s Combat Shadow Fighting and Great Prison Battle Sagas.
