After a long day of catching fish, netting critters, and toiling away in the mines, Fae Farm players can unwind with some simple foraging. There's no mini-game to master, or special timing needed; all players need to do is approach the item that caught their eye and scoop or scythe it up. Most items collected this way can be sold or even turned into delicious meals, so it's worth investing time into the skill, as reaching a high level can make the hobby very lucrative.

While leveling up the Foraging skill itself is important, players should also look into upgrading their tools for maximum efficiency. Upgraded tools can harvest items in greater quantities and even unlock the ability to harvest 'tougher' materials.

How To Increase Foraging Level Quickly in Fae Farm

Foraging in Fae Farm is usually done with a shovel or scythe. Cutting down trees increases the separate Logging skill, and harvesting crops increases the Farming skill, but foraging goes hand-in-hand with cooking, as the items collected can be turned into delicious energy-restoring meals.

For players looking to increase their foraging level as soon as possible, the best place to start is their own homestead. The place is positively overrun with weeds and plants, and harvesting them will give players plenty of plant fiber that they can use to keep their livestock well-fed. Regular weeds and the edible Arugula will give 8 XP each, making for some easy levels. Players focusing on their foraging skill should ignore the rocks, trees, and logs in this area, however, as they'll burn through energy quickly and fill up their inventories even faster.

After dealing with the farm and its raised section to the east, the next best places to forage are the beaches on the south side of the island. Sand dollars, coral, and ammonites here give 5 XP, Mussels give 8 XP, and all can be quickly grabbed without needing to use the scythe or any energy. These will gradually respawn like the weeds on the farm, too, so it's definitely worth grabbing them while traveling to the Saltwater Mine in the early game.

Similarly, the Spooky Woods to the east of the homestead can be a great source of XP. Acorns and Button Mushrooms give 12 XP each, and while most of this area is blocked off by thorns and mist alike, players can squeeze into certain areas full of useful sources of XP.

As the game's seasons progress, different kinds of forage become available, and story progress will unlock new areas too. Alongside the areas mentioned above, the best way for players to increase their Fae Farm foraging level is to follow the main story, unlock new areas, and sleep often so the items respawn. Inventory upgrades should also be purchased so players can harvest more items without needing to run back home to store them.

Players will likely be wondering what 'Lucky Forager' and 'Scythe Luck' actually are - this is revealed in the game's almanac, under the 'Skill Perks' section. In essence, these two skills make foraging much more rewarding for players who have spent enough time leveling up the skill.

  • Lucky Forager increases the player's chance of finding a bonus item when foraging.
  • Scythe Luck increases the chance to receive a bonus item when scything grass.

Fae Farm is available now for PC and Nintendo Switch.
