Like most farming simulator titles, Fae Farm boasts an incredibly deep and engaging farming system that is bound to keep players occupied for many hours. Players can expect to plant and harvest a wide variety of different crops, flowers and more throughout their journey in the Fae Realm.

Despite this however, it can be intimidating knowing where to start. Luckily, the game begins fairly light in regard to the number of crops that are readily available to the player. With this in mind, it is vital to know which crops should be farmed first in order to maximize profit and progress.

6 Turnip

Turnips are the first crop introduced in the opening tutorial of Fae Farm. Upon arrival at their Homestead, the player will be tasked with planting nine turnip seeds in their fields. Requiring only a basic soil bed which can be crafted with one silt, one sand, and a beech log, turnips are easily the most basic of the initial starter crops within the game. Despite this, they are a great way to learn the functional basics of the farming mechanics, whilst also gaining farming XP and Florins, the currency found within the Fae Realm.

Turnips are highly versatile too, due to their status as an all seasons crop. Like all crops in the game, the turnip crop must be watered a specific number of times daily before it can be harvested, this case being four days. Once players have successfully completed their first harvest, they will be able to sell their turnips for 20 Florins per crop. With these funds, it is recommended to then head into town to purchase new crop seeds.

5 Cauliflower

Upon completion of a first harvest, players can venture to Holly's Seed Shop in the main square of town. Here, they can find some additional seeds to plant on the farm. Among these is cauliflower, another relatively basic crop but one that is vital for adding variety to the farm, gaining additional farming XP, and selling for Florins. If watered and replanted in succession within a season, the crop can be harvested up to three times. Not unlike turnips, cauliflowers require daily watering.

After eight days, cauliflowers can be harvested and sold at the market for 25 Florins. Additionally, the crop is useful as a consumable, granting the player ten energy points per crop if consumed. This is essential for taxing work such as clearing farmland, which requires a lot of energy. Additionally, in the Seed Shop, players may notice different fertilizers. These can be incredibly useful, especially magic crop swap fertilizer. Applying this to crops will change their form depending on the seasons, which can drastically increase profits and crop variety. Applying to cauliflower will provide asparagus in spring, artichoke in summer, red cabbage in fall, and broccoli in winter.

4 Bean

The third seed available in the early game is the bean. A little different to the turnip and cauliflower, the bean requires twelve days of daily watering before it is harvest ready. However, once fully grown, if the player continues to water their bean crops daily, they will be granted an additional harvest every four days. Selling for 23 Florins per crop, this is a great way to generate a decent profit fairly quickly in the opening days of the game.

Like the turnip and cauliflower, a fully grown bean crop will also provide an additional recovery of ten energy if consumed, making it useful if the player is in need of an energy top up. Furthermore, beans can also be used as a cooking ingredient in several recipes later in the game. These meals can be eaten or sold for a higher profit, which really expands the versatility of these legumes. If magic crop swap is applied, beans will change to sugar peas in spring, eggplant in summer, pumpkins in fall, and acorn squash in winter.

3 Potato

Once the player has gotten comfortable with these initial three crops and harvested them enough, they will eventually reach farming level ten. Upon reaching this milestone, they will unlock the potato seed at Holly's Seed Shop. The potato is a great addition to the farm which can be harvested up to nine times per season if tended continuously. This is essential in the early game, as the potato only requires four days of watering before it can be harvested.

What's more is that the crop sells for 30 Florins per crop, making it one of the most profitable vegetable crops available to the player in their first year. Applying a magic crop swap fertilizer will also change the potato into a leek in spring, an onion in summer, garlic in fall, and a jewel yam in the winter. Like all of the crops before it, the potato and its swapped variants can also be used in recipes to create cooked meals, which can either be consumed for stat buffs, or sold for profit. Whether the player chooses to sell the crop as it is, or meals from its harvest, the potato is an essential on any farm.

2 Corn

Corn is another versatile crop essential to any flourishing farm. It can be purchased from Holly's Seed Shop upon reaching farming level fifteen. Requiring eight days of watering to reach maturity, the corn crop can be harvested a maximum of three times per season. The player can then sell the harvested corn for 40 florins per crop, making it a profitable investment for any early game farm.

Additionally, it can be utilized as an ingredient in a variety of cooked meals, which can be sold or consumed by the player, increasing the value of the crop. Corn can also be changed with crop swap fertilizer to further increase its versatility and value. If applied, it will become rice in spring, wheat in the summer, oats in fall, and rye in winter.

1 Pepper

The final crop available is the pepper seed, which is unlocked upon reaching farming level twenty. Like the bean crop, peppers require twelve days of watering to reach maturity, and can be harvested every four days after that, granted that they are watered daily. Selling for 46 florins per crop, the pepper is by far the best crop to harvest when looking to turn a profit.

Like all crops, it can be used to cook a range of meals to increase stats, or to simply be sold to increase profit. Additionally, peppers can be changed with the magic crop swap fertilizer, changing to cucumber in spring, tomato in summer, tomatillo in fall, and chilli pepper in winter.
