Exoprimal is a brand-new upcoming title from Capcom that pits soldiers from a futuristic setting against an almost endless swarm of dinosaurs. It's a team-focused shooter where players inhabit certain roles as they fight back against these waves of prehistoric creatures, with a variety of gameplay modes. This includes a narrative story mode, a PvPvE mode for Exoprimal known as Dinosaur Survival, and at least five more.

The biggest draw however is the dinosaurs, which may bring to mind another Capcom franchise, Dino Crisis. Despite the similarities and even reference to Regina, the game's main protagonist, Capcom confirms there's no connection between Exoprimal and Dino Crisis other than the dinosaurs. Regardless, the dinosaurs are a primary threat and even have some enhanced forms known as Neosaurs. These dinosaurs were showcased prominently in a recent trailer from Capcom.

This trailer was shown off at Capcom's showcase during San Diego Comic-Con, introducing a number of normal dinosaurs and enhanced Neosaurs. This includes ones that are commonly known, such as the velociraptor, petrandon, ankylosaurus, and triceratops. The trailer also briefly showcased how these dinos fight, such as the pachycephalosaurs throwing their heads forward to attack or charging straight at a player or a triceratops using its giant horns and head to charge forward. Exoprimal also has the ever-classic T. Rex, whose bite can temporarily break a player's shield.

Exoprimal's Neosaurs were also showcased, these being altered dinosaurs with an array of special powers. Some of these include the Gas Neosaur, which will explode upon being killed. The Sniper Neosaur can shoot out balls of poison toward a player, while the Evoker Neosaur can summon even more dinosaurs. There are even fire-based variants known as the Pyro Neosaur, which can shoot fireballs and rain fire as it flies across the battlefield.

One of the more defensive-looking creatures that players will find in Exoprimal is the Neo Ankylosaurus. Much like its vanilla counterpart, it has a tough hide that lends itself to playing defense. It however can produce a magma-like shell, while also shooting a variety of fireballs. Exoprimal's Neo T. Rex is showcased in the trailer as well, where it appears trying to jump out of a portal. The trailer ends with a shot of a player using a whip-like weapon, which can be tethered around a T. Rex's neck, where it appears to be controlled by the player and used to attack the other dinosaurs.

Exoprimal releases in 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
