Pokemon Sword and Shield have been out for nearly three months and trainers are still discovering Pokemon in the British-themed Galar region as popularity plus sales continue to skyrocket. While some Pokemon evolve simply through leveling up, others have a more unique method and different details rather than just a single appearance. One of these individuals is Sinistea, which requires some effort to acquire both forms in-game.
Sinistea is a Ghost-type making its debut in Generation 8. The Black Tea Pokemon appears as a face-patterned teacup with several cracks and holes where the rest of its true, liquid body is leaking out. Sinistea has two forms, Antique and Phony, which can be differentiated by a mark of authenticity, or lack of it, on the cup's bottom. Its evolved form, Polteageist, is also either Phony or Antique depending on if it bears the mark from its pre-evolution. Trainers will need to first capture both Antique and Phony Form Sinistea in the wild and expose them to a special item to trigger the transformation.
Catching Sinistea
Wild Sinistea can be found in the Galar region at Glimwood Tangle. The fastest way to get to Glimwood Tangle will be taking a flying taxi to Ballonlea and head towards the south path into the forest. After arriving, Pokemon Sword and Shield trainers will need to run around in the tall grass as Sinistea is only found through random encounters and not in the Overworld map. Sinistea can be encountered no matter the weather conditions and will range from Level 34-36. Sinistea's Phony Form has a ten-percent chance to be found, but the Antique Form is extremely rare with a one-percent encounter rate. Trainers should bring high-level Dark-type Pokemon or other Ghost-types like Runerigus and be prepared to search much longer for a Sinistea with the mark.
Evolving Sinistea
After capturing both forms of Sinistea, trainers should then fly or walk over to Stow-on-Side further south. To evolve Sinistea into Polteageist, a Cracked Pot or Chipped Pot needs to be used on the Pokemon. Phony Sinistea will need the Cracked Pot while Antique Sinistea requires the Chipped Pot. A Cracked Pot can be found behind the Stow-on-Side Pokemon Center or bought from the Bargain-Seller for 3000 Pokedollars, which should be affordable with one of many tricks to earn cash. On the other hand, the Chipped Pot cannot be found in the Overworld and must be purchased for 3000 Pokedollars at the same shop unless it's the bargain of the day. Once trainers have both items, use each pot on its compatible Sinistea to trigger the evolution into Phony Form Polteageist and Antique Form Polteageist respectively.
But trainers that have already completed the Galarian Pokedex or aren't interested in evolving an Antique Sinistea still have much to look forward to. There are rotating raid battle events currently going on and GameFreak has much more planned as the Isle of Armor Expansion Pass draws closer in June.
